On our first day, we discovered Cusco and its surroundings and I was amazed of the beauty. The historical center with its cathedral is almost a monument. As center of this city it was pretty touristic but okay, where else should they go. Anyway, entering...More

An astonishing place because of its sheer size and grand buildings. The capital of the ancient Inca Empire will transport anyone to the past. It’s well kept and clean. Loved it.

How can you not love this part of Cusco. Surrounded by cathedral on one side and another church on the other and two levels of provincial two story shops / homes. The aesthetics are stunning and quite hypnotic. We were here for Christmas and the...More

I stayed at the Palacio del Inca and it was a beautiful hotel. The foundation of the place was built by Pachacutec during his reign. It was one of his palaces and the area around. The hotel kept a wall that had survived from the...More

But, the Spanish did a great job of building churches and buildings and splitting the once large square into three. And the people of Cusco have done a great job of preserving the 15-17th century buildings. Needs to be part of any Cusco itinerary.

You really can't ask for much more out of a historical center, beautifully preserved churches and fountains, the gardens are very well kept (keep off the grass). However it suffers from the usual pitfalls of such centers, pushy peddlers, overpriced mediocre restaurants and gift shops...More

This place goes off for New Years Eve, music, fireworks for sale, people dressed up in yellow. trying to do the traditional 3 laps around the square but it turns into a saunter due to congestion. We were in Cusco a week and ate at...More

Nice historical center, probably the best urban area in Peru. Lots of historical landmarks, restaurants, shops. Of course there are a lot of tourists and people that sell stuff to them. Careful with the NorthFace clothes and gear, some are fake. Look carefully at the...More

We enjoyed this beautiful square, but saw it mainly covered in tarps in the Chaos of the selling of the saints on Christmas Eve...a spectacle in itself that you shouldn't miss if you're around at that time!

This is the centre of Cusco so you will go there eventually but honestly there isn't much to do or see. Shops are pricer because it's a touristy place, so be sure to walk further away from the square to get a more local-y experience

Hi! We landed in Cusco and immediately left to go to the Sacred Valley. This helps to acclimate to the high altitude. We were there for two days and then went to Macchu Picchu for two days. We then returned to Cusco for... More
