It was a truely amazing experience I can highly recommend! If you love nature and are flexible in terms of comfort you will be overwhelmed.
I think the tour differs a bit depending on accommodation availabilities and weather, but in general should be aroung the same:
Tour & guide: Our guide Julio (freelancer, not always him) was fantastic, we could not believe how he did it but he spotted a lot of animals where we wouldn't have seen anything. He led us through the jungle and knew a lot of facts around the animals and jungle, e.g. more than 500 birds by heart.
We saw mostly birds, but also various monkeys, a caiman, opossum, snake, toad, spiders. It would have been possible to see capybaras and tapirs but unfortunately not this time - except for the sanctuary we went, at least here it's save to see those animals, otherwise of course it's wildlife so you have to be a bit lucky.
We also swam in the river, went on nightwalks, had some time to relax in the hammocks, went on boat trips and longer hikes through the jungle. Perfect mix!
Accommodation: 1st night in Paraiso Lodge in Pillcopata, very nice, double room with own bathroom, warm water, good dinner and breakfast; very nice to watch birds in the morning. 2nd and 3rd night in Amazon lodge in the middle of the jungle, half-open wood huts we shared the 4 of us with own bathroom. Basic, but with mosquito nets no problem - it was the true wildlife experience! Monkeys came around the lodge, there was a natural "pool", hammocks, an open dining room where a toad or snake might look around. In the evenings we sat together with the hosts, played card games, our guide played the fluit, or made a bonfire. We rather felt like friends than being tourists.
Reco to bring: mosquito repellent - although no malaria danger, there are thousands of mosquitos and they suck :D! Binoculars - the guide has one pair but it's more fun if you can also look yourself. Good flashlight for the nightwalks. Rain poncho. Ear plugs (we had very loud thunderstorms every night). Hat - during the day the sun burned as hell, up to 37°C.
If you need a comfy bed and are scared of insects it's probably not your thing, and if you have more time I would really recommend booking a longer tour as the drive there is already 8-9 hours so it would be more worth it and more likely to see animals if you can go deeper into the jungle.
Otherwise, totally recommendable, a unique authentic experience and very very well done!
