    Fun and informative
Interesting to learn how the Incas interpreted the stars and constellations, and how they worked this into the design of their citadels. We also got to look through telescopes, and had a really interesting presentation in the small Planetarium. You can certainly feel their passion for their work!
Indeed, the interpretation of the skies by the ancient Incas was completely amazing. Sharing our love for astronomy is part of our job. Thanks for writing to us!

This is a Must Do! You will love it!!!
This place is AWESOME!! It’s a MUST DO in Cusco. Everything was so perfect. The staff speak excellent English. They provide blankets to keep you warm. Anna Maria is a true delight. She’s funny, informative, intelligent and delightful. We truly enjoyed her teaching us about the stars. Looking through the outdoor telescope was amazing! Getting to see the constellations was a treat. The inside dome was also very informative and interesting. We HIGHLY recommend this as a Things to Do in Cusco!
Thanks a lot to take the time to share your experience, means a lot to us, we do love our job!

    Go When Sky is Clear
The planetarium experience could have been amazing, but, for us, it fell short mostly because the sky was quite hazy. That happens largely because of the pollution in Cusco. Our guide only showed the Greek version of the constellations in the planetarium. The presentation before we went into talked about the Inca general view of celestial objects. The telescopes set up outside were interesting but most of us had seen that before. The haze caused by pollution really got in the way.

We made reservations via WhatsApp for S/.75/person, which we paid at the end of the tour. We got the number from their website. The representative was bilingual. The pickup spot was at Recocijo Square. When we got to the planetarium, we were separated into Spanish-speaking and English-speaking groups. They gave us blankets to keep warm. We were taken to the dome, where we were given a lively presentation about the constellations of the northern hemisphere to orient us to the constellations of the southern hemisphere. From there we went outside to view some of the constellations and the moon through telescopes. If you can, go on a new moon night to see more of the stars. Finally, we went back inside for a presentation about Incan culture. It was interesting to learn that Incans preserved food by a freeze-drying technique. Finally we were taken back to the city. They dropped us off near the pickup location.

What a cool, sweet experience, from the moment we met our earnest contact at the pick up plaza, to the sweet nature of the presenters and the excellent clear night. The structure itself is a quaint modest kinda cottage, with thatch roof and spare interior. We were offered blankets as we sat in our circle looking up at the interior dome, where our delightful and knowledgeable astronomer highlighted the constellations and the different interpretations from different cultures, and the fun facts like the significance of the southern cross. Outside, there were two smallish telescopes we took turns viewing. It's super cold at night; I was glad I had my winter jacket and toque. Bring CASH for the ticket; they don't have wifi. Great way to kick off our Peruvian journey

Apart from the opportunity to meet other travels, the Planetarium Cusco is a family run business who are passionate about astronomy. They manage to combine the Greek and Inca mythology as well as show the differences in the sky in the northern and the southern hemispheres. They have a dome where they project the sky but there is no recorded presentation as they do the presentation live and control the projections at will and perhaps this is what makes the place special. They also have 3 telescopes and for an astronomy enthusiast like me it is never enough to see Jupiter and Saturn up close among other things in the sky. Blankets were provided as it got really cold. It is not for small children or disinterested teens but if you're keen to learn it's a good start.

Despite trying to call several times to book, in the end booking was only possible and most efficient via WhatsApp for me.

Ana Maria shared her passion with us in a very enthusiastic way, we were drawn into her stories and explanations and spent 2 exciting hours with her, learning more about the Southern Sky and Inca constellations. The planetarium is a family run organization well worth a visit! They picked us up in town (they were perfectly on time), and drove us back down. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cusco.

Fantastic experience! Our guide (Ann Marie I think) was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and passionate about the topic. Learned about the southern sky, Incan astronomy, and got to see many stars first hand using the telescope. Fascinating to see how the Incans used the stars to predict agriculture! The blankets and hot tea were much appreciated (it gets chilly up there in the wet season)!

My wife and I did the private tour given tickets were sold out for the group tour. It was pricy for just the two of us, but not regrettable. Being from the US, it was really interesting learning about the southern hemisphere constellations, seeing the big dipper upside-down blew our mind.

Our guide was entertaining and informative. Her and her uncle run the place and their passion for astronomy was inspiring. Totally worth stopping by if you have the time!

If you're in Cusco, DON'T MISS the Planetarium Cusco. It's family-run, very professional, and was the highlight of our last visit to Cusco. Wear warm clothes--you're really high up so the stars are clear...but it's really cold. We visited in 2019, before the lock down, so ignore the "When did you travel?" date. The family members are very knowledgeable and, in addition to showing you the stars outdoors, and in their observatory and planetarium, give a very interesting talk on Incan astronomy.

This was such a fun experience! Not only did we learn a lot, the guides Anna Maria and Paul were so passionate and knowledgeable about all things stars! She got us excited with her energy. The excursion consisted of 3 parts , a talk, a presentation on the screen overhead and then the real life thing outside. I feel like I actually understand the constellations more and learning about how the Inca culture tied in the stars to agriculture was intriguing and fascinating. Perfect for solo, couples or families! The english translation was perfect
