The 7 day trip to Manu Reserve was a nice experience in the primary forest but getting there is very long...
We saw many birds, caimans and monkeys and the 2 Otterfamilies. You need a good camera. Mammals where rare to see we have seen 2 Capybaras, and 2 pigs running into the bush. At least we heard a jaguar.
Maybe we should have been earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon on a walk?
The tour was otherwise well organized. The boatman drove excellent up and down the river, the food was nice and the guide Abel knew much about the Amazon and the animals. Abel grew up in the Amazon and has great visions for the future to conservate the area.
All in all a trip we won't forget.

Palotoa tours helped us organize our 2-week vacation in Peru. We were a group of 9 people who had a great experience in Peru with Palotoa Tours. I visited Lima, Ica, Paracas, Cuzco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Machu Pichu with Inca jungle trail, Lake Titicaca, Rainbow Mountain. I want to come back to Peru and I will always use their services.
The guides speak English well, they are calm, they quickly find solutions in difficult moments and their advice was very useful.

We had a very helpful and friendly guide. Some of the activities were delayed or canceled due to the rain. It was a huge mistake doing zip lining on the last day when a lot of us were exhausted. The food was good, on average. Be prepared to bring lots of sunscreen, bug spray (deer), a wide brimmed hat, and long sleeve quick drying clothes.

Things to note:

1. You’ll probably need to do your laundry and hang it on the line outside (unless you bring checked luggage), so bring laundry soap.

2. Shampoo/Conditioner isn’t included: Bring some or at least 10 soles (should be enough for two people) as they don’t take cash or credit cards.

3. Multivitamins: Definitely bring some unless you want to be exhausted almost the whole time. There are not enough complex carbs, vegetables, or dairy to keep up your energy or the health of your body. At the very least, bring Calcium/Zinc pills.

4. Bring sleeping pills (prescription recommended): There were a lot of mentally ill people when I attended. One woman was screaming random things into 3 in the morning and woke up a lot of people (the couple across from me had to cancel their whole trip because they couldn’t get to sleep all night).

5. Be willing to skip activities if you need to: for example, a lot of the bird watching happens at 5 AM (boat leaves at 4:30 AM), don’t bother if you’re exhausted or will miss too much sleep.

6. Make the ZIPLINE super optional: For example, in my opinion, the first zipline is quite dangerous (I don’t recall there being a platform to come to a stop with your feet if you need to) and I hit my head (helmet on) pretty fast and someone had to come rescue me (though, I could have reeled myself in, it would just have taken around 3 hours). It was a huge mistake making us do the zip lining on the last day. It was my fault for going, but in my exhaustion, was not really mentally aware enough to know the full extent of my exhaustion. If you’re going to do it, know that’s there’s no break you can pull to help you a lot (it’s a manual break) or anything to stop your fall (if you don’t nail it, the tree could make your head a meat patty).

7. Although none of my stuff was stolen, I highly recommend being a neck wallet and money belt to keep your cash/jewelry/credit/important documents with you at all times (especially, if you are traveling in a group; that being said, I don’t know if they place random people in the same rooms).

Hopefully, this helps someone.

Exceptional tour, my partner and I had a fantastic time visiting the jungle with Palotoa Amazon Travel. They were so well organised and did go miles beyond in making us feel safe and comfortable in the jungle. The guide, Carlos was incredibly awesome and did erverything he could to make this a fruiful yet a joyful excursion. His knowledge on the local traditions and culture was impeccable and his tips were very helpful. There were no flaws. Abel the owner also offered us free airport transfer in Puerto Maldonado which was a very nice gesture on their part. I can totally reccomend the tour and the tour company.

it was a wonderful experience for us. After 3 weeks of stay in Peru, I can say Amazon is the best part of our trip. There is no doubt this can't be possible without a good guide and a good team to support him.
Carlos had so much experience about the jungle and the Amazon culture because he is a member of an amazon community. We are delighted that he is our guide.

Tambopata reserve and Sandoval Lake cannot be described easily.
We are lucky that there are so many companies make a tour to Sandoval lake but none of them offered such a well organized tour.
So we had a great chance to see real nature in nights, days dusk and downtime.

We also stayed in one night in different lodge, located along the river for usual activities like zip line, Canopy walkings and visiting monkey island. These activities were also good but I'd prefer to sleep with Howling Monkeys, thousands of birds and real nature in near the Sandoval lake.
Also, I have to say night sky was amazing, sadly I couldn't take any night sky photo but those moments always in our mind. Carlos had also good eyes not only for spotting animals in dense Jungle but also in the night sky to spot spy satellites too. :)

The food was always fresh, always delicious. Staff was warm and respectful.

I can recommend Palatoa travel without any hesitations to all my friends and to who read this.
I was also working as a mounting guide before, so I knew somethings about these kind of tours. After Amazon, we made 5 day Salkantay trek with well known company our guide was a standart tourist guide, with standart tricks.
Palatoa and Carlos one of the best in Amazon you can find.

One more thing, I never imagine before this trip how Amazon smells like, It was wonderful, flowers, fruits... wow. I never find again in the rest of Peru.

After being cancelled by another company, we were very lucky to find Abel at Palotoa Travel.
He was very professional and knowledgable of the area, plants and animals. He made sure we were safe and took care of us at all time.
The trip was well organized and everything was superb.
The meals, boat trips and hikes were amazing. I highly recommend anyone to use Palotoa Travel and Abel on your next trip to Manu

The natural beauty of the Amazon Rainforest is simply breathtaking, and Abel´s deep knowledge and passion for the animal and plant life in the Amazon Jungle brought it to life in a remarkable way. He was exceptional in spotting and identifying diverse wildlife and was truly passionate. From vibrant Macaws and playful monkeys to elusive Jaguars, Abel seemed to have an uncanny sense of where to find these incredible creatures.

Abel´s commitment to preserving the delicate ecosystem of th region was inspiring, and he effortlessly conveyed importance of sustainable tourism. It was a pleasure to lean from him and witness his genuine love for the environment.

My partner and I did the 4 day, 3 night trip to the stunning Tambopata Amazon and Paradise Lodge and it was incredible!

We were thrown straight in to the activities from the get go, starting off with a walk through the tree top canopy and a ride on the zip lines! After a delicious lunch and a bit of down time we did a small trek to Sandoval Lake where we enjoyed a tranquil boat ride whilst looking for giant otters! Sadly we didn’t see any otters but it was a beautiful experience nonetheless as we saw lots of other wildlife including a very large number of monkeys! That evening we did a boat trip to look for caimans and saw the beady little glistening eyes on a few very exciting occasions. Dinner was once again delicious!

Over the next few days we did further very fun activities including piranha fishing, kayaking, a visit to a local native family and some more boat trips fuelled by our tasty breakfasts and lunches.

The food was always delicious and there was plenty.. and fortunately we had enough time to digest post lunch before any further activities as we were given a fair amount of downtime over the days we were in the jungle to explore the lodge and it’s surroundings or just take a nap!

Imperative to bring bug spray and wear loose, light coloured clothing that covers you up as the mosquitos were often out in full force.

Even though I am someone who’s very frightened of insects, especially spiders, I found the night walk absolutely amazing. One of my favourite parts of the whole experience! We saw so many insects and some very cool spiders including some big tarantulas!! But our guide made me feel calm and in a way has helped me get over my phobia by being so close to them getting to see the beauty of all the different species.

Saay was our guide and he was exceptional. He was full of knowledge and taught us so much about the different wildlife answering all of our very many questions! We felt like we came away with an enriched understanding of life in the amazon. Not to mention he was an excellent boat driver.

On the last day, we were the only couple left on the lodge and it was pouring with rain but we were eager to still do some exploring so Saay took us on a botanical walk through the jungle and lots of flooded patches. It was amazing to learn about all of the different plants and trees whilst being up to our knees in water (we did have wellies on!).

We were in basic but very nice lodges with mosquito nets and en-suite bathroom which far exceeded my expectations - for someone very scared of creepy crawlies I slept very well to the sounds of the jungle!

Highly recommend this trip if you want to experience a slither of Amazon life. A perfect amount of time to see all of what the incredible place has to offer. Lots of animals, delicious traditional Peruvian food, an amazing and very thorough guide and a nighttime sky full of stars that is like no other.

The best trip we had in Peru. This was quite alluring tour as we visitedthe areas deep in the Peruvian Amazon jungle and also spotted several animals and bird species. The early morning boat ride to see Macaws clay lick was truly the highlight of the trip. Carlos is an exceptional tour guide and shares many interesting things with us. The group was quite small two of us among other couples so it was nice to get personal attention throughout the trip. The package included transfers from Cusco to Manu although the ride was somewhat long but well planned with several stops along the way to stretch our feet and use restrooms. All in all this was incredibly the best trip and I can totally reccomend this.
