A group of us joined a one-day tour from Cusco to walk the hike to see Humantay Lake. It was most definitely worth it. The walk is flat from the car park but gets progressively steeper. That said, by taking your time, the vast number...More

Located on the foothill of Humantay glaciar. The best pictures are taken in a sunny day, it turns into turqoise color. But the hike itself it's beautiful.

Its a difficult hike but the crown jewel lake at the end of the hike is spectacular. This hike is only for people that are in good shape!

Visited in January during wet season but had a really sunny day. That being said sun is not your best ally during this trek despite it is only 400m elevation gain, path is steep full of rocks and the altitude is no joke. There were...More

In my trip to Peru, I hiked the Salkantay mountain, an impressive destination, honestly I felt like dying but the lack of oxigen never stoped me and crossed the whole route , Humantay is a beautiful lake in the Salkantay Trek.

We visited Humantay as part of the 5-day Salkantay trek (organized by the same people who do the free Cusco walking tour with red shirts). From Cusco, it is about a 3-4 hour drive to reach Soraypampa, and then about a 1.5 steep walk uphill...More

I’ve decided to comment because I think these reviews suffer from a sampling error. I visited on a day trip from Cusco. The bus ride is long (nearly 4 hours) up and down winding dirt, mountain side roads. As a normal tourist, I think it...More

It's a long day as you need to wake up very early and you'll be getting back to the hotel at around 6 or 7pm but it is worthy. Once at the lake, try to go a bit high for a good view of its...More

Visited this lake as part of the salkantay-trek and it was a nice starter. Would slightly recommend going here as single-trip.

Yes, it is possible, you can arrange with a tour operator to be picked up at the sacred valley. It will take about the same time to go there from Urubamba or Cusco. If you are in Ollantaytambo you have to add an hour to the... More

No, that is not allowed. The idea is to preserve the color of the water as long as possible, so every disruption to the current ecosystem is prohibited. Fish also has not been introduced to the lake for the same reason.
