The "Juanita Museum" is the site of the frozen remains of "Juanita," the Inka girl sacrificed and discovered hundreds of years later. The museum tells the whole story leading up to a viewing of Juanita. Extremely well done and very much worth the visit.

This museum which concludes with sight of the recently discovered body of the sacrificed Juanita is not to everybody's taste, but it gives an idea of how earlier societies functioned For that reason it is worth visiting.

The tour starts of with a rather gushing film - making various claims which are purely supposition. The exhibits are quite nice and well spaced out. Juanita is the reason most people are there and 'she' is quite interesting to see...but that is it. I...More

The discovery of Juanita, the frozen girl is such an amazing story. The museum has done an excellent job of preserving the mystery of her life and death and telling the story. It is a very moving moment to finally view her in her frozen...More

Juanita is not shown to the public. The other mummies are basically a block of ice, to be seen in very dark conditions, which meant for me, not see anything. That's it. No worthy.

Museum detailing the funding of the body of a 12 year old in a girl in the mountains. Still a mystery how they brought her so high in the mountain.

I liked the museum and artefacts, the guide gave a brief explanation about the most imprtant things but I was a bit disappointed by Juanita itself. You can hardly see any details, she was partly covered in ice. I have been to the MAAM in...More

Our guide had briefly outlined to us what we were about to see, but the exhibits that were in this museum were totally unique in my experience. The lighting is very low and photography is not allowed, but our guide picked out details with a...More

We heard this museum was worth a visit - and it was. Although quite low lit, the displays are clear enough, and the obligatory guide helps with interpretation. The 20 minute film seen at the start of the visit is also very interesting. The final...More

This is a two part museum. First is a fascinating documentary that combines the finding of the mummies and the rituals that produced them. It was easy to get caught up in the drama of climbing the mountain at 12 years old in order to...More

From what i can see in Google, the hours are 9am to 6pm. With Juanita, I would check first as they do remove her for a few months of the year and replace her with one of the other Ice Mummies. Hope this helps

When you are in Arequipa, stop by and confirm if Juanita is there before you buy your tickets. They might have other mummys or attractions in May. The museum is in downtown Arequipa, so do this as you are walking through... More
