Do not expect any activities (although sometimes you will find great concerts at the glorieta). People watching at its best. Older gentleman getting together to chat near the old cathedral. Young break dancers at the glorieta, Hippies selling their crafts near the new cathedral and...More

Our hotel was right on this plaza, so we passed through at least once or more a day. There was always something going on here when we visited in December, mostly music performances. Very attractive park right in the front of the most beautiful Cathedral...More

We've spent time in Calderon almost every day since we've been in Cuenca (5 weeks). It's always interesting and a real good way to observe Ecuadorian life. Centrally local located in the historic el centro, its near restaurants, churches and stores. Don't miss it!

Parque Calderón, at the heart of Cuenca, is a great place to just stop and relax and enjoy the culture of Cuenca. There's always a lot of people there.

We bought ice cream a few times next to the cathedral and sat on a bench in the park. As it is safe we enjoyed looking at the cathedral and people watching while we ate our ice cream.

Very tranquil and well kept park. Nice area downtown. Grab some coffee and just sit on one of the benches and enjoy the area. Beautiful spot for pictures as well.

Plaza Calderon is nice to sit and people watch, read, or eat gelato from Angelus. It also seems to be the meeting place and drop-off point for the city tour buses.

While it is not a specific tourist activity, we have been through this plaza repeatedly. It is not crowded, and I enjoyed the idea of sitting at the bench and watching people pass by. Many of the people were older men, and you can get...More
