First, we’ll go to the "Inti-Nan" In-Situ Museum (at about 2400 meters above sea level, about 7800 feet), where you can see replicas of the Ecuadorian Highlands and Amazon and, of course, to learn about the Quitu-Cara culture, their comprehension, long before the Geodesic Mission, on the stars, and, therefore, the empowerment of the term "Center of the World"; this visit takes about 45 minutes (entrance not included).

I did this tour on 12 May and enjoyed it immensely. However, the description of the tour on the Viator website is misleading and should be corrected. There is no lunch and in fact the tour starts at 2pm. There is also not a visit to fruit and vegetable markets. The photos on the website should be removed as they... More

Urban Adventures - Latin America failed to have a guide show up and never replied to my emails. Booked through trip advisor and Viator so I thought it would be worth $200 for a tour with my wife and a guide. These guys are crooks and they have not refunded me. -Pat M.

Quito has three definable areas with the modern high rise business and residential area to the north; the less affluent areas to the south; and the historic centre in between. This area is in the midst of restoration but already provides a wonderful view of old colonial architecture and many interesting churches. Plenty of plazas, market areas as well as... More

Quito is one of those cities where it pays off to stroll along. I took one of the free walking tours from a local hostel and loved it. After the tour ended we all stayed for lunch and then we wandered. There were so many small shops with foods people I was with had never experienced and the shop owners... More

The tour takes you all over the city and you can get on and off the bus and spend time at any site you choose. The Panacillo has super views of Quito and the surrounding volcanos. The streets are so narrow you feel the bus might brush the walls of the colonial buildings.

So drastic with the steepest inclines at every turn the view is always breathtaking ( as is the walk). Take is slow like the locals and savour every corner with a new magnificent perspective.

The old town is full of colonial stuff and a Must when visiting. In the evenings we went to la Ronda for fun and people watching. Often there are indigenous groups playing their music and dancing

I would plan at least half a day in the morning (or around Noon) and a few hours in the late afternoon or after sunset. It is two different cities by day and by night. Visit beautiful churches and city squares by day and have dinner at one of the local eateries. Here are my visit priorities: 1. Clime the... More
