If you're wondering around the old part of Quito, and stumble upon this Plaza, then it's a neat place to chill and people watch, if not, don't go out of your way.

Just a smallish plaza with the Sucre Theatre fronting it. There a couple of bistros and a restaurant and the Hospital “Lenin Mosquera”. Unless you need to go to the theatre, the hospital or a hungry there is no reason to stop by this plaza

Since 1886 the Sucre National Theater dominates the square. The neoclassical style structure designed by Francisco Schmidt is 55m in length. The central part of the facade with six Ionic columns supporting a pediment with frieze, stands out.

As it seems the square itself serves to underscore the importance of the theater, though there are other historic buildings rounding it. There are some restaurants and sometimes performances. Most well-known among locals is probably the bus stop.

This is a plaza in front of the main theater in Quito. The only reason I stopped here was that there were several street performances happening. One was some kind of comedy routine while the other was some people dancing.

Located along Guayaquil Street and in front of the Teather, there is not much to do here. There was one guy showing his talents during my visit. Of course, there are vendors selling their stuffs.

Cute plaza surrounded by beautiful buildings. We ate outside at one of the food establishments in the plaza. Weather was perfect. Great for people watching. Was a circle of people around a few entertainers when we arrived. Lovely spot to sit and relax.

The Sucre Theater anchors this small colonial plaza. If you are fortunate to attend a concert there, you will observe an older, well-maintained theater. The facades of the buildings surrounding this plaza offer a glimpse of earlier colonial times. Try out one of the restaurants in this plaza and soak in the atmosphere.

This would have been just another little square but when we were there, a couple was performing a Latin dance (I'm not smart enough to know which one it was). They were in formal attire and really danced as professionals. At first I thought it was a promotion for the Teatro (theater) but I now believe it was just a couple entertaining the crowd on their own. There was a hat in the area for some well-deserved tips, and the rather large crowd gave a warm applause when they finished.

This is just a very small and quaint plaza in front of the theatre. I visited here both during the week and on the weekend and both times it was practically empty. Not much to see or do here.
