We started in Guayaquil and took a bus to Duran to start the four day trip. This is a well organized trip along the Andes. You overnight in various hotels and visit ranches, markets, museums, and meet a lot of locals. The train is comfortable and has a friendly staff that serves meals, beverages, and snacks. I highly recommend this... More

We did the day trip from Quito that toured the Avenue of the Volcanoes and it was great! The day itself was extremely well-planned with a ton of very authentic cultural experiences (which included a visit to a local ranch, a dance performance by women from a small village, and lots of local food stops). We had no idea the... More

In 2010 the President of Ecuador set out to rebuild the Andean countries rail system.Almost $500 million was spent refurbishing 9. steam lovomotives,12 diesel and many carriages and stations. The whole amazing operation is for tourism.Locals flock to s series of day trips in different parts of the country each weekend while up market tourists ride the rails through the Avenue... This trip was so much fun. The service was amazing - reserved seats for dining on the train - great bar and staff - the food served was made by local people and delivered to the train in the most amazing packages - they brought entertainment on the train for dancing and fun - the haciendas where we stayed overnight... This tour was a highlight of our three weeks in Ecuador. We took the four-day trip from Quito to Guayaquil and every day was new, different, engaging, and beautiful. The daily excursions, from indigenous markets to textiles to wood carvers, were well thought out and gave us insight into the different cultures of the country. We saw bits of the... More

I did the 4 day Tren Crucero from Guayaquil to Quito 3-6 September 2016. Easy check in at Duran station (a bus that follows the train throughout the trip carries your checked luggage and you have access to it every night at each hotel - you can put hand luggage in a secure locker on the train). The first part... More

We did the 1-day train through the Avenue of the Volcanoes, and highly recommend it! The price is extremely inexpensive for what you get: An all-day excursion with wonderful bilingual tour guides on a beautiful train to see the beautiful countryside, and hopefully 7 volcanoes will wave at you. With all of that, you have a few stops that include... More

(This is about the four-day trip from North of Quito all the way to just north of Guayaquil.) The Good: What a lovely way to see so much of the country. I love train travel, and Tren Crucero had everything I love about it, the peek into the back door of cities, the time to gracefully take in the landscape,... More

We took the 3-4 day Tren Crucero from Quayaquil to Quito and then north to Ibarra as a prelude to our time in Otavalo, Quito and then the Galapagos. It was like having two vacations in one - I had no idea about Ecuador and felt that our guides and the ride were a fabulous introduction to the country. You... More

Took the Saturday tour to Cotopaxi which was very long. Wished I would have just driven there. The stops were at the stations where concession stands were set up serving delicious foods. The turn around point was an interesting farm and petting zoo.

Dear Neal F, Many thanks for your feedback, we are always willing to meet the expectations of our clients, if possible we would like to know in your opinion, what can we do to improve the excursion, considering the train can not go faster due to national regulations. Best regards, Tren Ecuador More
