The basilica is located in a nice area of Quito where you can get a panoramic views. I was able to climb to the top of the towers and walk through the grounds. I would recommend with people ages 15-50 who can climb and move...More

Take especial note of the gargoyles on the outside of the church. Animals native to Ecuador, Iguanas, Turtles, Tortoises. The inside is nice but it is the outside that stands out.

It's definitely worth the trip. You have to climb up some ladders to get into the tower, but it's a nice view.

The Basilica in Quito is as amazing as any you will find in Europe. The architectural elements astound and the decoration on the interior are fantastic.
