A free performance facility with outstanding ballet dancers. On the day we happened to come across this culture center (we were going to the art fair across the street at the park on a Sunday), a "Circus" ballet was being performed free. The theater was full of young families who were amazing. Quiet, attentive, and very receptive to the performers... More

Besides the artifacts and historical relics, there was a very cool contemporary art show and two of the artists were there to answer your questions and just enjoy your reaction to their work. Very relaxing museum with few people.

This museum gets little publicity. I am so sad that only 14 people have even reviewed it here. I only knew about it because two people from Quito sent me there. It does not even get in the tourist brochures. There is a beautifully displayed and well documented collection of pre Columbian pottery there. Absolutely world class. In addition the... More

At first we just saw the current exhibits which were fine, but not in English as well as Spanish. Then we discovered the historical side of the museum (to the left after you enter) which had both English and Spanish descriptions for many of the exhibits. It provided an excellent history of Ecuador through the years. We spent three hours... More

If you enjoy visiting museums where you can see an areas culture from the beginning laid out in great detail, this museum is for you. I was pleased to see the amount of work that has been done to organize the exhibits and the amount of material that has been collected for each culture that has made up Ecuador. From... More

If you like ancient cultures and you love gold, there is a great room in the Archeology Museum at the Casa de la Cultura that you need to visit. It is by far one of the most impressive collection of ancient metal work we have seen.

Inside the Casa de la Cultura there is a museum that is definately something that you shall not miss, if you are interested in the history of Ecuador. The museum shows in an interesting way the history of Ecuador. It is not an art-museum even if there are some paintings or other things of art. I agree with another reviewer... More

This museum doesn't seem to be widely advertised, and it took us a little while to find it, but it was worth it. An impressive collection, particularly of early pottery and gold artifacts - see photos. It was free, and you could take photos (but no flash). Hardly anyone else was there, and you can easily spend a couple of... More

In La Casa de la Cultura Ecuadoriana take place many artistic events. It is located across from El Ejido Park. Next to, it is the Museum of Central Bank; a round glass building housing a treasure; the gold artifacts of precolombian era, It takes few hours to visit it, but it is worth your time.
