Built in 1911, historic Hacienda and 135-hectare Alegria Farm are in the verdant heart of the Avenida de los Volcanoes. These beautiful pasturelands are home to more than 200 cows and calves, 65 horses and foals, dozens of llamas and alpacas, and more. It's the perfect place to learn about hacienda life, which includes milking cows, riding horses, animal care, and taking care. Visit us from a few hours a day to several days.

We stayed as a extension to our Galapagos trip after reading about this in a travel guide. We were a family of four with two young children. Extremely warm and gracious host. Our first night was eating with the family within their personal dining room with Gabriel and wife as host. The rooms are very new, very clean and spacious.... More

I loved to stay and ride in the Hacienda la Alegria. My seven days of training started with a warm welcome from Gabriel, Paty and their staff. It went on with the professional riding instructions from Gabriel and the delicious meals from Paty's kitchen. Gabriel knows and understands perfectly to match the rider with his horse as you keep improving... More

Hacienda La Alegria was my first stop on an extended trip around South America, and the reason I decided to come to Ecuador. I stayed for a week and could have easily stayed longer. Gabriel and Paty showed wonderful hospitality and are so welcoming, which was important to me as a solo traveler. The horses are fantastic, every one of... More

The Hacienda Alegria is the perfect place to try out some horseback riding in a lovely location less than one and a half hour's trip from Quito. Don't be concerned if you are an inexperienced rider, you are going to love this activity with their careful attentions to details. Knowledge and safety are taken seriously here, as is the loving... My husband and I had the good fortune of stopping in Hacienda La Alegria for a two-night visit. We only got a taste of what this superb attraction has to offer. Besides comfortable accommodations and great food, you will LOVE the hosts, Gabriel and Paty, as well as the other staff. Everyone is kind and welcoming and sincerely wants you... More

I stayed at Hacienda La Alegria in June, and had two amazing rides surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Forward going, well schooled and good mannered horses, my trusty steed Caramello was gorgeous, I only wished I could fit him in my suitcase to bring him home. This was by far the best riding I did in South America and I would... More

My friend and I were just finishing touring Galapagos islands when we arrived at la Hacienda Alegria. The difference of weather and temperature between the islands and the mainland was a shock but fortunately, the warmness of Don Gabriel and Pati, in their hacienda made us feel fantastic and like at home. This was just the perfect place to be... More

I recently visited Hacienda la Alegria ... for the fourth time. Each time I am there there are new opportunities and things to see and do. Whether you are looking for a good way to spend an afternoon, a weekend getaway in the country, or an extended adventure on horseback in the mountains of Ecuador, I could not give Hacienda... More
