This museum, in a very majestic former home, is a total jewel. Features European and Chilean art spanning the 18th to the 20th centuries. The house is incredible in and of itself and you will marvel at the bathroom with shower and tub from a time gone by. The garden surrounding the palace is lovely to sit in and catch your breath before climbing up the many staired hills. You must have the 4,000 Chilean pesos in cash to enter, no credit cards.

We enjoyed this museum, which is at the top of a funicular (ascensor). Very convenient and not resolve. Nice art -- including a few pieces by Henri Rousseau -- and an interesting glimpse to a well-restored historic home. The art spans about 100 years, including modern 1950//1960s pieces by Chilean artists. There is also a cafe.

My favorite museum in the area, the building itself is beautiful and the art is fascinating. Good for a one hour tour, then have a coffee and pastry in their coffee shop.

What a wonderful collection for this totally donated museum. A wealthy old Croatian gentleman lived out his years in Valparaiso and each time he went back to Europe, he would buy art. And what a collection it is!! Also loads of local Chilean artists!

A “palatial” house that was too much for the children of the owner to maintain so they gave the house along with all the artwork inside to the people of Valparaiso

The building has been well looked after and is a very good example of what Valparaiso must have looked like in the past. The paintings were mostly of local settings and are well worth seeing. It's next to the funicular so convenient if you are coming up from the harbour front or vice versa.

Lovely building in great setting with nice views. Small but interesting collection of paintings, with some good scenes of old Valparaiso with some local painters.

While an art museum, with some quality works, for the most part, exhibition rooms still reflect a lifestyle of years gone, when this was a rich dudes home from early-mid 20th century. Well worth visiting as great architecture.

We visited this mainly because of the quirky architecture but it houses an interesting art collection. Really cheap entry fee for over 65s too!
