We got off the tour bus here. They told us to watch our bags because of pickpockets. The square is confusing because you can't tell the street from the sidewalk so you have to be very careful where you walk. There was a market in...More

Lots of history here as the plaza is surrounded by noteworthy buildings from the 19th and early 20th century. It’s the site of an annual parade also. But be mindful of the traffic as there are no curbs and it’s easy to veer into their...More

The Plaza Sotomayor is nicely located a few minutes from the main cerros and has small cafes around it, which provide for great tasting, cheap food and good coffee. Go there for coffee and just look around, during the weekend there are small markets and...More

We really enjoyed this part of our tour. Beautiful area near the port. Interesting Naval history. Also enjoyed the history about the fire brigades. They are all volunteer and are organized by various immigrant communities. German/American etc.

Pretty plaza. Be careful with traffic. There are no indications of where pedestrians and cars should be. Walk around the monument and look at the view of the Armada on the other side of the plaza.

People watching, strolling, eating and drinking and absorbing history - that is what the Plaza offers. Enjoy the feeling of Valparaiso in the surrounding area, as well.
