........the prevailing attitude here seems to be then just (deface) it. Sad, very very sad. Walking around and looking at all the damage I couldn't help but think to myself, why in the world doesn't the city ban the sale of spray paint.

The protests in Santiago are just destroying the beauty of the city. Historic monuments, statues and buildings are being defaced and vandalized Absolutely heartbreaking!.

Last night a peaceful protest in the afternoon through Barrio Italia turned violent with tear gas being used on Providencia street which angered protesters who began smashing glass, blocking roads, setting fires and throwing rocks at buildings seemingly at random. We were out for a stroll and had to turn back after being affected by tear gas.

I walked through Plaza Baquedano several times while in Santiago and I would say that it's busy during the day but really comes alive at night. If you are looking for special brownies that make you happy, you can visit here at night.

I was taking a stroll to Plaza Italia and stumbled upon an out-of-control protest. The police used tear gas which was a memorable experience. I will remember Chile's vibrant democracy.

This plaza nearby the Baquedano Metro station, is alive with people and traffic. Walking is easy - as is crossing the street - great walk lights. However, it must be an adventure to drive through the spaghetti of intertwined streets for the first time. Modest flower beds. Pleasant place to pause on the way to the Bellavista neighborhood.

Large square with a large roundabout adorned with flowers. It is the gathering point for Chilean for big celebrations, manifestations, etc.. Surrounding building are pretty modern, not particularly interesting from an architectural standpoint. Worth seeing whilst passing by, it is an orientation point when visiting Santiago.

Nearby Baquenado metro station, is located this new place called simply “Pizza and Coffee shop”.
The uniqueness of this place is related to the decoration, when you step inside you see an Italian type of table clothes, along with traditional colors, the tables are made of wood and all the atmosphere is warm and cozy
The people goes there manly for the oven made pizzas and its cheap prices, for around $8,00 Chilean pesos you will have one large pizza with 3 ingredients of your choice, with 2 desserts and 1 drink, also they will put little bowls with parmesan cheese, oregano, merken, and some other species.
I recommend to go for lunch due the dessert, and enjoy a nice place with nice and tasty food.

I agree with other reviewers. Interesting roundabout with a statue and neighbouring park. Flower beds are pleasant too.

This is a good sized open area in the center of a metropolitan area. There is a very unique cell phone shaped building overlooking the area. Learn to recognize this building as it is tall enough to orient by from many areas of the city. I understand from a guided tour that this is a gathering spot for city folks to celebrate when sports teams win or other significant 'Chilean' things happen. It also next to the river and next to a long park (Parque Forestal) which is very pleasant to walk through.
