- GordonW318Gloucester, United Kingdom1,241 contributionsOne of the Best Handicraft Markets in ChileI agree with other contributors this is a must see attraction. This market is very quaint and packed with shops and stalls primarily selling local handicraft goods but also food and drink is available. Everyone here is very friendly and only too willing to engage in conversation with you even if not buying anything. There are a myriad of little pedestrian streets and alleyways to explore. Ideally you can easily spend at least 2 hours here watching artisan craftspeople at work in jewellery, glass ,leather but particularly as silversmiths and weavers making cloth.Visited March 2020Written 5 April 2020
- 505badgolferAlbuquerque, New Mexico373 contributionsEven shopaphobics will like this placeI'm not much of a shopper but enjoyed this place. I just took the subway to the last stop of Los Dominicos. The shopping village is only about 400 yards from the subway stop. Many, many vendors selling everything from cheap kitsch to quality handicrafts costing hundreds of dollars. I was told that there are between 125 and 150 vendors. Recommended.Visited February 2020Written 27 February 2020
- Nicole DLos Angeles, California281 contributionsAn Amazing City EscapeAn amazing market, for anyone looking to escape the bustle of the city. A short train ride dropped us off at the base of the mountains with only a short walk to the nearby stores. With barely any crowds, we were able to spend the afternoon meandering around looking at the quaint and unique little shops, while also grabbing a lunch at one of the restaurants there. Everything in all the stores appeared to be handmade, and created with thoughtful precision and care. I went there specifically looking for a belt, after I forgot one for my travels. We stumbled upon a leather shop, and browsed the belt selection, only to discover all were too large for my waist. The shop owner stepped in, and immediately resized a belt for me right there on the spot. He cut the length to my waist, added new holes, and burned it to keep it all together. We left there with an incredible genuine leather handmade belt for only $14 USD!Visited August 2022Written 25 August 2022

The mix of offerings is interesting, ranging from jewelry, clothing, housewares to specially foods and plants, but some stuff is just touristy kitsch.
Be sure not to miss the store of the Artesanias de Chile that features certified origin products made by master artisans from various geographical regions of Chile - and the best quality you can find.

We stopped here with a tour from our cruise ship. The market was very nice with lots of quality souvenirs. Many of them were handcrafted by the locals that sold their goods here. Since we were on a tour our time was limited. It would have been nice to spend a little more time here. If you go, I would allocate at least two hours.

This is a really super place , lots of artisans making things and lots of interesting little gift shops. Its beautiful, in the grounds of what used to be a monastery. Places to eat either snacks or full meal . You can try a Chilean speciality , pastel de choclo , meaty or veggie.
Its the place to buy those presents and a little something for yourself while admiring the stunning Andes as a backdrop.

Our tour ended with breakfast so our tour guide recommended this place. We went before noon by Uber and it's not a street fair, it's an enclosed/outdoor place where artisans sell their wares. Wonderful, high class clothing, jewelry and odds and ends. We spent lunch here in the little cafe and in total we spent about 3 hours walking around. We spent money and had a good time. A little out of the way but Uber got us there and back.

Lovely artisanal village market for all types of handicrafts and souvenirs. We had a lovely stroll through the market on a late Friday afternoon and purchased copper crafts, Llama wool sweaters and other souvenirs for friends and family back home. The prices are a bit higher than what you can buy from roadside vendors but the quality seems better. The place was not crowded and we felt safe walking around. The church next door looks very nice but we didn’t have time to go inside. Definitely recommend for souvenir and craft shopping when visiting Santiago.

This is a fun and large place with more than 200 shops to choose from. Skip the Artisanal market with mass-produces trinkets downtown, get on the metro (red line), the center is on the last stop, to the right of the church.
Huge selection, watch the masters do their craft, reasonable prices. Credit cards are accepted, clean restrooms, a few coffee shops to get refreshments. The center is open the entire week, but more than 70% of the stores are closed during the week (even then you will find stores that offer all art and crafts). I went on a late Saturday afternoon and on late Tuesday morning, both times I found beautiful items to take home.

Interesting collection of eclectic artisan shops in one location. Several very small stores in one area selling hand-made local souvenirs, jewelry, fabric, clothing, and wood carvings. Limited number of commercial-type souvenirs such as t-shirts and hats.

Easy metro ride down and relatively easy to find. Beautiful little complex that met all my souvenir shopping needs - jewellery, textiles, ceramics, etc. Highly recommended for a pleasant afternoon. Prices a little on the steep side, but worth it to me.

Sim, tem lugar, mas não vi estacionamento pago, se estiver lotado fica mais complicado encontrar lugar.

Hi. I visited the Artesanal many years ago and one of the favorite things that I bought there was from an artist who made fantastic, miniature bicycles, about 10 cm tall, simply by repeatedly bending a single piece of aluminum wire. I've always wished that I brought back more of his work. Does anyone who has been to Artesanal recently recall seeing any miniature bicycles like the ones I've described? My sister is going to be in Santiago in 2 weeks and I would love it if she could locate the artist and bring some more of his works back.
Thanks.
