We met Felipe, the tour guide, chef and teacher at the markets (fish, meat, flower and produce) at 10. He then gave us a tour of all the markets while telling us the history of Chile and Chilean cooking. He bought a few items needed for our day of cooking and then we took taxis to the cooking school. We met Felipe at Mercado Central to start our market tour and to purchase the things we needed for the meal that we would be creating. The market portion of the day was a little disorganized and it wasn't clear to me what we were doing exactly. I would have enjoyed the market more if it didn't feel as rushed... More

Felipe was an excellent guide around the Central Market and showed us how to make a delicious 3 course meal in the kitchen. We ate as we cooked and also learned a lot about Chilean people, Chilean food and everything in between. The Pisco sours and wine tasting were also a great addition to the day. Having previously attended cooking... More

A great way to experience the culture and cuisine of Chile. Felipe was the perfect guide given his love for and knowledge of El Mercado Central as well as cooking. The market was amazing, offering anything and everything imaginable, made better by being with someone familiar with the offerings. The cooking class, held in a well equipped and lovely kitchen,... After 5 days in Santiago we had our last day spare. This is a brilliant way to spend time. We met Filipe at the central market and toured the local markets buying produce for our meal. The kitchen is located in a lovely house within a very nice area of the city. It has been beautifully converted with a superb... More

If there's one thing that will help you get to know a country, it's their cooking. This tour was incredibly fun and informative and exceeded every expectation for a cooking class! We started the day by meeting Felipe in the Mercado Central, where we got a tour and he picked up ingredients to cook with during the class. What they... More

Felipe is a wonderful chef and teacher. He took us through the fish, flower, and produce market. He bought most of the ingredients for our meal as we watched. We took a short taxi ride to the kitchen. There were eight of us in the class. We all got a chance to chop, stir or mix. We made mango pisco... More

From the moment the Felipe met us at the Mercado, the energy and good humor of him and our group made it clear we were going to have a great day---and we did. Our chef showed and told us much about Chilean culture and food while we were shopping at the markets and then we took a cab to the... More

I echo all of the very high ratings for the workshop and especially for Felipe, who makes this the best cooking workshop I have experienced. While buying the ingredients in the markets, one is a traveler, not a tourist. Meal prep is wholly hands on and a marvelous sample of Chilean food and drink.
