Very impressive building both inside and out. It is not a circulating library. There are lovely reading rooms and many impressive collections. You must show a passport or copy in order to enter. The circulating library is 1 block away.

The National Library of Chile is very impressive in its size, architecture and interior. There are a number of unique floors in which there are many book rooms and collections as well as my favourite reading room on the top floor which is a must see. There is also a restaurant/cafe and plenty of community resources such as computers.

If you take a city tour, you will enjoy visiting this library. You can also go on your own and take the subway. It’s just outside Santa Lucía subway station. There are several reading rooms where you can see old architecture and ornaments: marble stairs, wooden tables, bronze lamps, paintings, etc. It opens Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 19:00 and Saturdays from 9:10 to 14:00. Don't forget to visit the bookstore. If you visit the library on your own, you don't need to pay.

Its seems like a common library at first, but it's an incredible place to visit. If you're interested in architecture, art and books, you just can't miss it. Also, there's a good coffe shop inside.

This building has some beautiful interior features and houses some important archives and exhibits. I just wandered in from the street and wasn't able to find much information on the building but it would seem no expense was spared in its construction, which includes lavish stained glass skylights, chandaliers, timber panelling and marble staircases.

The Biblioteca Nacional is a nice, free place to stop. I found I enjoyed how quiet their garden was in the buzz of the city more than the library itself. There is only one room that seems to be more "traditional," with heavily paneled walls and ornate bookshelves. If you are in the area, it is worth a quick stop, but I would not go out of your way to see it.

Since we had early arrival at the hotel across the street and were too early to check in, we visited this imposing building. You'll need to climb stairs to enter the library; it's free to visit. Though there are high ceilings and stained glass, it's a rather plain interior. The most interesting aspect of the interior was the special exhibits - all of it only in Spanish but we got the gist of each exhibit by looking at the pictures and using our rudimentary Spanish. There are several quiet reading rooms in this multi-story building but we didn't see many books for a library! And yes, there are restrooms for your use.

I thought this building would have a gorgeous library interior. The building is stunning from the outside but the inside is very plain and compartmentalized. I may have been looking in all the wrong places but I couldn't find any open spaces inside with stacks of books. Instead you just have hallways and a bit of a museum. Overall pretty disappointed with the interior.

This vast, imposing library is worth visiting, as it's very impressive architecturally, with some modern twists added to the fading glamour of old. It's a bit rambling, but there are exhibits to visit as well as the reading rooms. Worth seeing if you're passing, but perhaps not to seek out. Free wifi is available inside if you go through a lengthy registration process.
