If you are planning to go, just make sure to get in a tour at Puerto Varas. Driving up the ladder can be dangerous, and sometimes you wont be able to reach the ski area due to weather conditions, so better safe than sorry!

This place is beautiful. Lots of snow on the peak, even in Summer. You can view the volcano from a boat ride on Lago Todos los Santos, which makes it a great juxaposition for the volcano. Lots of nature to love here.

This is an impressive land mark that is very nice to look at and get the idea of how wast and large this volcano is. We drove around it on our way to white water rafting.

WE only saw the volcano from a distance as the weather was awful and the roads were impassable. However even from afar it is magnificent and a symbol of the area. Would have loved to have gone to Lake Llanquihue and used the chair lift...More

We spent the morning onboard a large boat visiting the Emerald Lake. We had a spectacular view of this volcano from the vessel. The locals call it the "Mount Fuji" of Chile.

We hired a van and driver and covered this icon of the Lake District region outside of Puerto Montt and what a marvel. So much in the area to see and the Osorno Volcano loomed large within the area. The area resembles parts of Europe...More

A tricky winding road to the cafe and chair lift base. Spectacular view from there, and of the volcano cone towering above. We had to wait for a break in the clouds to get our photos; but it is a classic cone and worth persevering.

We loved the Paso Desolacion hike which we did starting at the other end and hiked first toward Petrohue and then back away from Petrohue instead of starting in Petrohue. It is really a beautiful Volcano! I wish I was a mountain climber so I...More

The cruise ship can arrange this. Another option is a local tour guide....Maria and Lili from Trails of Chile were wonderful (fyi we had mixed experience with the company overall)
