Neighbourhood: Marina Bay
More of a mini city than a neighbourhood in the traditional sense, the iconic Marina Bay aims to dazzle and entertain visitors of all kinds. This is the Singapore found in glossy brochures, featuring a world-class hotel, casino, shops, restaurants, bars, and other attractions all geared towards pure entertainment. The SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands provides a stunning view of the city, a must-see photo opportunity for visitors and locals alike. The ArtScience Museum always has a top-quality exhibition, and Gardens by the Bay is a fascinating manifestation of the government’s vision of Singapore as a “city in a garden”. Enticing Marina Bay is well worth a visit.

    A must visit in Singapore
Merlion Park is sort of a land mark that highlights the origin, history and culture of the tiny country with a single statue. The head of the Merlion statue is that of a lion while the body is of a fish. The fountain which discharges water in to the bay is a sight to behold. The board beside the entrance of the poark has five languages in it - the four official languages of Singapore namely Chinese, English, Tamil and Malay plus Japanese. Our guide, a very bright and well informed lady named Yvonne explained that while there are many Japanese visiting Singapore, many of them may not necessarily be comfortable with English and hence the board in Japanese too.

    Iconic statue of Singapore
The Iconic statue of Singapore is situated at bayfront near Marina Bay Sands resort hotel. It represents the city as Singapore means Lion city. All the tourists coming to Singapore visit this place. The statue is smaller than you imagine as per the pictures shown at different places, but beautiful. It's better to go in the evening for better pictures. You can also witness the musical fountain show on other side of the bay, in the evening.

Nice place to stop by while walking along the Marina
While visiting this statue you should take a walk around the entire marina area. The areas around the Merlion statue itself is very crowded and lively especially at night. The statue and the surrounding area is lit up at nights to look very nice.

    Perfect place for photo taking
One of the location in my list! The Merlion park is small, nothing much here just Merlion for you to take photos with a gorgeous sea view. If you love to take photos you must come here at sunset time around 6pm you must standby.

Great photo opportunity with sights all around you!
Whilst in the city this is a great photo place to see all the different buildings around you and take in the different architecture and views across the bay. chill for a bit and have a drink or an ice cream and just take in the sights before carrying on to your next place! Can be a tourist hot spot!

Home of the iconic Singaporean statue
My husband and I took a tour of the central business district in Singapore. At the end of the tour, we ended up in Merlion Park with the iconic statue of the Merlion, a mythical half-lion, half fish. The Merlion’s fish-half symbolizes Singapore’s origins as a fishing village, known as Temasek. The head of the statue represents the city’s original name of Singapura. The statue currently stands at 8.6 meters tall in front of the Fullerton Hotel and overlooks Marina Bay, it’s home since 2002. As tourists, we naturally had to take photos in front of the Merlion statue. It’s a lot bigger than you’d think. There is a mini one in the park that you can also take photos of. The park is free to everyone and it is a busy hubbub of activity during the late afternoon and evening. We took a bus to and from the business district that day and found the park easily accessible.

    The Icon of Singapore
While you are in the city, this is an excellent location for taking photographs because you will be able to see a variety of buildings all around you and take in the diverse architecture as well as views of the bay. Can be a popular destination for tourists. Before moving on to the next location, take some time to relax, take in the scenery, and have a refreshing beverage or a delicious ice cream treat.

    A temporarily closed Merlion experience
They are renovating the statue itself as they will reopen next year? It was fun to walk around the area even though the highlight of the whole Singapore trip is to see the Merlion. For the meantime, there's a small version of Merlion you can enjoy and take a photo with.

    Symbol
In addition to being one of the most recognizable monuments in Singapore, the Merlion also serves as the Lion City's unofficial mascot. Its body is that of a fish, but it has the head and mane of a lion. The fish body is meant to symbolize Singapore's beginnings as a fishing community when it was known by its previous name, Temasek. The area around the fish is incredibly attractive and provides a wonderful opportunity to take some stunning photographs.

An unusual fountain worth to see!!
It is worth a visit here if you have the time to come by early in the morning before 9a.m. or so as it gets quite busy and crowded. We started from the Anderson Bridge under the Esplanade and walked past the smaller Merlion statue before arriving to the big Merlion that has a fountain that sprays water into the Marina Bay. A very unusual sight for sure and make sure you walk around both sides of the fountain to see the different views. There are a lot of souvenir shops and drink stands around the Esplanade, also a restroom behind the souvenir shops.

Free to visit. Open air, there will be plenty visitors all day long.
Avoid afternoon, due to intense heat.
Bumboat ride will take you around Merlion Park too.

Gorgeous pics to be had at this park. Besides the Merlin spouting water, you can have pics of Fullerton Hotel and the financial district. You can also see the magnificent Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the old pier where boats landed with immigrants from afar.

Great place to take photos of Marina Bay Sands and the waterfront area, in particular the iconic statue, which is much larger in real life than we were expecting. Pleasant area for a walk. Buzzing area of Singapore due to the crowds.

Attended in the evening. Loads of restaurants and bars, beautiful views of Marina Bay and bustling with people. Super clean and the people are very friendly. Slightly more pricier than other areas but that is to be expected. A wonderful evening and finished sat eating ice cream under the Merlin statue. Worth a visit, even if to just walk around.
