This site should occupy you for all of 30 seconds as you wander around the Esplanade vicinity. Not too much to see, just a marker where the original monument once briefly stood.

The INA marker is located in Esplanade park in downtown. Even though there was some construction going on at the park, there are plenty of signs to help you locate the marker. Not sure what some of the folks here are complaining about. Got to...More

After visiting Changi prison and reading about how the British and Commonwealth troops suffered as POW's under the Japanese, it was hard to visit and understand how the Indian National Army - Indian troops formerly attached to the British army defending Singapore and remain unbiased...More

This was a waste of hot, sunny afternoon. The road signs say the memorial is 300 meters away, but nothing there. There is a lot of construction and my worry is that the memorial is hidden within the construction zone. I wished they could tell...More

This honours the controversial army raised by Bose from captured Indian soldiers to fight largely unsuccessfully against the British. Rare monument I would think.

You certainly wouldn't expect to find anything like this in China or South Korea, so it is perhaps an indication of the level of tolerance that Singapore has to past atrocities. The history of the INA is well worth reading about, and its links with...More

Read in history books how Netaji Subash Chandra Bose from Bengal, India, travelled all the way to Singapore to form the Indian National Army in a bid to free India from the British Colonial Rule. Unfortunately, he sided the Japanese army, thus, when they fell,...More

The Indian National Army supported Japanese war efforts during WW2, and declared war on Britain and US during the Japanese occupation years. When the British retook Singapore in 1945, they demolished the monument, dedicated to a war hero of the Indian National Army.
