There is another Lim Bo Seng memorial at MacRitchie Reservoir at Lornie Road. Lim Bo Seng, an old Rafflesian was a war hero. The memorial at the reservoir is built on a hillock and faces the sprawling reservoir. Behind the memorial is a dense tropical rainforest. Lim was born in China and in 1925 he came to Singapore at the age of 16 to study in the famous school called Raffles Institution. He married Gan Choo Neo and they had 8 children.

The Lim Bo Seng Memorial is a monument dedicated to the Singapore patriot and resistance fighter who was captured, held and died during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore in the 1940s. The memorial, built in 1954, is a humble but attractive pagoda, featuring a bronze three tiered roof and is surrounded by four bronze lions. In 2010 it was gazetted as a national monument.
You can find the Lim Bo Seng Memorial at the Esplanade Park near the mouth of the Singapore River. It is one of several nice, minor attractions you can see in the Esplanade Park. You can also see the Cenotaph, former Indian National Army Monument and the nice Tan Kim Seng Fountain, all worth a few minutes of your time.
Note: Unfortunately the Tripadvisor picture (as of April 2013) for this attraction is incorrect. The picture presently being shown is of the Cenotaph, which is a WWI memorial, also found on the Esplanade Park grounds.

Nice historical story of the background of Gen Lim Bo Seng. Do take the time to read the plaque

This memorial is locate at Esp,Amadeus park, near The Padang.
The memorial was erected to commemorate war hero, Mr Lim Bo Seng.
Although we are loving in peaceful times, we should remember those who were here before us and what they have done for Singapore.

Sunday 20th October and we were walking to the Singapore Flyer along Quen Elizabeth Walk to Esplanade Park, where this Memorial is situated.
The Memorial is in the shape of a pagoda and is made of bronze, concrete and marble.
The Lim Bo Seng Memorial is a tribute to Major-General Lim Bo Seng, one of Singapore’s many war heroes during World War II.

I came across the "Lim Bo Seng Memorial" whilst taking a walk through Esplanade Park. It is a very simple memorial that acknowledges the sacrifice of Lim Bo Seng during his resistance fight against the Japanese in WW2. Worth a look if passing but it will not leave you in awe that's for sure.

This memorial is smaller than others in Singapore and could easily be missed by passerby as the area has some construction at the moment. The memorial commemorates a man who was tortured to death by the Japanese during their occupation of the island during WW2. To me the memorial was both beautiful and a reminder of how unnecessarily horrible humans are to each other. I'm glad we took the time to read the plaque and stop to contemplate the structure and its raison d'etre.

The monument isnt really impressive to look but, but the significance to the history of Singapore is great. Great way to educate the children about the people who stood for Singapore and tell the story of this great man. Some key stories to share would be Force 136, Operation Gustavus and Operation Zipper. Thank you Sir.
