Built in 1855 by Tamil labourers, the temple has a South Indian architectural style. The gopuram or tower, a common element in South Indian temple architecture, was built at a height so that it can be seen from a distance.

With a strong local Indian community, this pocket of Singapore can feel like another place and time. Wander past traditional barbershops while local residents in brightly coloured saris patronize retailers from decades past. Peruse streets lined with colourful shops as the aroma of curry tempts you to indulge. Listen to the Bollywood music echoing from storefronts and take in the stalls selling bright flowers, fabrics, and spices. At the 24-hour, four-level Mustafa Shopping Centre, you can shop through the night and find everything from pharmacy and grocery items to Bollywood DVDs and diamond necklaces. Singapore’s Little India offers a colourful, lively taste of the subcontinent and is well worth the visit.

Great location for exploring Little India in Singapore, as the name suggests! But a great little boutique hotel for good prices perhaps with the slight omission of that personal service.

Hindu temple in Singapore. Many believers do visit daily and perform their worship, the priest give blessing to them. Statues everywhere reflect a huge background history and culture I guess.

This Indian Hindu Temple is in the Chinatown neighborhood. The tower is on the corner of Pagoda St. The towering artifact is a stunning display, colorful, and detailed. Workers were at the top and still placing more statutes at the top.

A beautiful hindu temple that should not be missed if you’re in Singapore. The people are exceptionally welcoming to all visitors, but one should be respectful by dressing appropriately (covering knees and shoulders) and by removing one’s shoes before entering. The temples statues tell amazing stories and the priests will offer blessing with your offerings. Definitely worth the visit.

This is a maakaali temple, in dravidian architecture in Singapore. The temple architecture is beautiful as always in all the dravidian temples. The aura and positivity is amazing. Just felt like seating peacefully and spending more time in the temple. Jai maa kaali.

…plus very welcoming of non-worshippers. The frieze above the door is very impressive and makes this temple worth seeking out if only for a brief glance.

This is the oldest Hindu temple located in the heart of Little India. The main gate is intricate and ornate. Sculptures are colorful and convoluted.

I always worship this temple whenever I walk pass it. This temple is popular among tourists and Indians esp workers who like to pray to the Kaliamman deity here. This temple is said to be proven holy and helpful to a lot of poor people. I believe if you pray wholeheartedly to this deity your wishes will come true.

A beautiful indian temple on the streets of Little India. The place had intense hindu vibes with idols of gods and goddess all around. The temple is built according to dravidian style of architecture and conducts prayers at around 6:30pm, which is time you would want to visit the temple if you would want to experience the true indian vibes. They also served free hotchpotch (spicy rice and lentils) during the saturday evening i visited and it was yum.

What time can we visit the temples? Last time we visited Little India we were told the temples were closed, but it seems they are open early and all day. I don't want to miss them this time. Thank you

Hi,
We were there as early as 7 AM. They open pretty early, so you can come there anytime of the day. I am not really sure if they have held any celebrations and stuff there tho'.
