Boat Quay is a remnant to the old docks on the Singapore River where maritime commerce once was handled. Now the River no longer goes to the sea and the docks have to moved to other parts of the city. However, Boat Quay and its quaint little warehouse and buildings on the river stand as the old commerce framed by modern skyscrapers that house the new and modern commerce of Singapore. Today Boat Quay is really a series of restaurants, bars and other hospitality entertainment. It is a great setting on the river that you will have to visit.

What a contrast Boat Quay is by day and by night but both equally inviting.

During the day, there is much to explore here from the tunnel with art murals between Boat Quay & Clarke Quay to the luxurious Fullerton Hotel and the historical Asian Civilisations Museum.

By night, the pubs and restaurants come alive with tourists the main patrons. We did not dine here as have heard adverse reports but did order cocktails which I had to even request for the olives for my Vodkatini as only a lemon swirl was given. We managed to get a table by the river and enjoyed seeing Marina Bay Sands lighted up on the nightly light show.

Do make sure you go over to the other side where the Asian Civilisations Museum is to get a beautiful view of the buildings all lighted up.

Still the same reliable prettily-lit-up strip of the river offering every conceivable kind of cuisine. Good to see the old Penny Black survived the pandemic, just. Places still have the inflated prices only affordable for expats on expenses. If you don’t mind a view of a road rather than the river while you eat, pop round to the restaurants at the back of the quay - you’ll get much the same selection of food at lower cost.

On the banks of the Singapore River and only a few minutes walk from the Merlion Fountain of Marina Bay, Boat Quay comprises of a row of old colonial style low rise buildings housing a large number of bars and restaurants with a very wide variety of cuisines. All have dining / drinking areas on decking overlooking the river, and for Singapore the prices are reasonable.

A great place to visit and enjoy relaxing food and drink in this amazing city.

I've been cycling along Boat Quay regularly during the lockdown, made possible only by the fact that there weren;t so many people about (since all the restaurants were closed). Normally Boat Quay is a frenzy of activity and it is impossible to consider cycling. But it was good to make the most of the opportunity whilst it lasted.

Boat quay has changed and is now more of a tourist destination. It remains an interesting area to explore all through and capture great images of the old and new. The food was good but extremely expensive vs other areas of Singapore with small portions. I would be cautious eating here and do your research

Full of atmosphere and buzzing through the night. All sorts of food restaurants and bars. Best to take a stroll, find a restaurant and sit outside by the river over looking some impressive building and scenes

Located in the Raffle Place neighborhood (about a three- minute walk), this place is hopping at night by the water. Everything comes alive with tourists and local residents. If you can, try to get a table by the water to get a wonderful view of the Marina Bay Sands illuminated.

This reasonably small area is set around the water and it’s very historic indeed.

You see several old buildings which is a stark contrast to the tower blocks around them, but it adds to the appeal.

It is lined with lots of bars and restaurants and they all looked pretty good. You do get a little bit of pressure from Their representatives outside trying to get you in but it’s done with a good nature and isn’t too intense.

We just found a shady spot and had a rest whilst enjoying the impressive spectacle around us.

I walked past Boat Quay virtually every day on my 7 night visit to Singapore. It's not really that busy during the day, and comes alive at night. It's a great walk to reach the city and is littered with shops, bars and restaurants. The statue of Sir Stamford Raffles is located there.
