- TheLeongOhanaUnited States7,497 contributionsExpansive and Lush GardenWe came early in the morning to explore this huge park well before the heat started. Lots of well paved pathways made it easy to get around. We started at the Botanic Garden MRT end of the park where a short history about the park was posted and exited at the Tanglin Gate near the Napier MRT. Inside the garden were many smaller gardens that highlighted regional of family groupings of plants as one example. Of course the largest was the National Orchid garden itself. This visit we stopped by two museums: The SBG Heritage Museum was a small but good place to stop by and learn more about the garden history and growth over time. This was also the building where orchid breeding was refined. The CDL Green Gallery was a green museum focused on climate change.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 October 2023

Weather was a little hot when I visited. Hope there's more dining option around this unesco site.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 11 November 2023
- Liveyourdream_asiaSingapore, Singapore2,194 contributionsPerfect spot for nature loversThe Botanic Gardens stands out as a must-visit in Singapore, embodying the essence of the entire country as "A city in a garden." Its vast expanse and numerous parks make it ideal for morning or evening walks, jogs, or spending quality time with family amid lush tropical greenery. The majority of the gardens are free to explore, with the exception of the National Orchid Garden. For a more comfortable visit, I recommend coming before 10 am or after 4-5 pm, particularly if you prefer to avoid the midday heat.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 November 2023
- DuganLondon, United Kingdom228 contributionsOrchids on glorious display in SingaporeThese large beautiful gardens have a long history in Singapore and parts of them are recognised by UNRSCO as having world significance. They are easily reached by two different metro lines and entry is free. For a very small fee you can visit the Orchid gardens there. This spectacular collection might be the best thing to see in Singapore. Don't miss it. Caught in a thunderstorm on my way out, I took refuge in the Bees' Knees cafe there and enjoyed a coffee and free wi-fi while I waited for the storm to abate.Visited November 2023Travelled soloWritten 22 November 2023

A good walk/stroll through this exceptionally clean park, with the nice flavours, aromas of flora. Of course touristic attraction as you will meet a multicultural population interested in this natural “green” and joggers and lovers of tranquility ...Enjoy this beautiful place where you can see nice old trees, smell aromas, flavours of an extreme variety of flowers/ plants/rainforest and take time to visit the special zone of orchids, probably over 2000, this part is to be paid for a small amount but the rest of park, lake is free. We saw squirrels and lizards ..this UNESCO Heritage is a
Must to visit with good walking shoes and suncream. Of course take refreshing water as this enchanting place will need some of your time ...but very rewarding !

It has been donkey years since our last visit here and so on one weekend after our dinning at The Villa, one of the restaurants located within the Singapore Botanical Gardens (do check out my review of the restaurant here too), we decided to spend some time to walk the park.
The park is definitely lovely, serene, peaceful, nice, clean and well maintained!
Despite of the sudden passing showers (it lasted for about 25 mins) that we experienced, that didn't stop our spirit and mood from walking around the big garden. We came by the National Orchid gallery, the outdoor stage and the most iconic landmark, the Pavilion, just to name a few.
It's good to see so many kinds of flowers, trees and indulged in greenery!
The garden is till date, the one and only Singapore's UNESCO world heritage site and it is free to visit (but admission to the Orchid garden is chargeable).
If you like greenery or wanna to find a quiet place out of the bustling city, this will be an ideal place for you!

What an absolutely spectacular botanical garden!! Easy to get to on the SMRT (aptly named Botanical Gardens stop on the Downtown line), this place is vast, you could easily spend 2 days here if you like your plants. Entrance is free, but there is a S$5 charge for the UNESCO heritage listed Orchid garden, and I have to say that it’s well worth the money. Everything is well laid out, and pretty much all areas are wheelchair accessible, although it is quite hilly (especially feel it on a hot and humid day). Food places a plenty (prices on a par with the rest of the city), but if you’re going to stay the whole day, bring a picnic, lots of shady areas to sit on a blanket. This is a must go to place if you’re ever in Singapore and it won’t break the bank.

I stopped off at the botanical gardens whilst doing the hop on/off city bus tour and I am so glad I took the time out to visit. There is no entry charge to the gardens themselves.
The gardens are absolutely beautiful with waters falls, a large lake and a huge variety of flora and fauna. I visited on a very hot and humid day but there are plenty of shaded areas to walk through to give you a chances to call off. As you walk through the garden you will come across The National Orchid Garden, I didn't go in as it was there was a cost, but there are enough orchids display outside for you to take in their beauty.
I stopped for breakfast whilst in the gardens at a little place called Pepperoni, well worth a visit and a great place to watch the world go by.

You have to pay a small amount to access the Orchid Garden but otherwise the Botanic Gardens are free and provide an oasis of calm in the City. A lovely way to while away a few hours. The Gardens are one of the numerous stops on the Hop on/Hop off Bus Tours.

We visited the gardens with friends and found the gardens lovely. There was a orchid garden inside that you paid a small fee to enter. The gardens also had a rain forest walkway and a lake where we saw a large Komodo dragon at the edge of the lake.

These gardens are extensive with different areas for different types of plants. When you arrive you are given a map and recommendations of what to see and where to go. The orchid gardens are the only part you have to pay for but the charge is negligible and they are stunning. There is a nice cafe and gift shop too. We will be going back as we couldnt see everything in a day.

A definite Singapore treasure well worth your time to visit - and better yet it’s free! The gardens are immaculate and beauty abounds. It’s also worth paying the very reasonable fee to enter the National Orchid Garden inside the Botanical Garden. The orchids are amazing and there are so many varieties to enjoy. A great place to take a relaxing stroll with friends or a loved one.

The botanic gardens overall are lovely being mainly trees and shrubs. The extensive range of bamboos and the sheer size of some of them was impressive. Entry to the gardens is free but you have to pay to enter the orchid garden. This is 6SD or only 1SD for over 60's. The orchids were an absolute delight and extremely varied in colour and shape.

This is one of my favourite places and Singapore’s jewel. It is an excellently maintained, wonderfully designed, sprawling historically preserved garden organised into botanical themes. It is entirely worthy of its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This is one place not to rush through. Advisable to visit early in the morning or late afternoon when the temperatures in Singapore are cooler. Enter by any gate, though my favourite is Tanglin Gate or via the Ginger Garden entrance/ Tyersall Gate.
The Orchid Garden is wonderful and the $5 entrance not high, but it is not wonderful than the rest of the entrance free garden.
The Halia restaurant is OK to eat at (e.g., breakfast), but there are certainly better places elsewhere to dine.

Hi can we bike inside the botanical garden? If not where can we park the bike?
Written 10 February 2021
Cycling is not permitted in the Botanic Gardens. If there are places to chain bikes then they will be in the car park areas but you need to email the Gardens to check that. There used to be a spot by Tanglin gate but that went when they redid the area a number of years ago and I havent looked for bike racks or similar since.

Would you like to visit Singapore Botanic Gardens or another place in Singapore?
Written 23 November 2020
The question is somewhat unanswerable, as it is phrased.
I can state that the Botanic Gardens are on my Must See list for every time I visit Singapore (which is as often as I can manage). However, there are a number of other items on that list too. That list takes me 6-7 days to get through, so that doesn't help in decision making for short stopover of a few days, so equally yes there are plenty of other places to go and see.
If you want a pleasant garden escape from the city then the Botanic Gardens fits the bill and you should not ignore the National Orchid Garden contained within. It will take a whole day for someone unacclimatised to Singapore's climate to get around the whole site at a reasonable pace (actually I try and visit in 2 phases to do different sections) - so its a large attraction.
IF you are trying to work out which one item you can possibly do in Singapore and if this is it then that decision has to be made by you - if you ask 20 people to name their personal favourite single item in Singapore for a day you may get just as many answers - you will certainly get variety - so go with your personal taste for that sort of choice.

Hi can I walk my dog without a leash if she's trained to?
Written 2 March 2020
Singapore Botanic Gardens rules state dogs must be leashed.
I cannot put a useful link in here but in a search for - Singapore National Parks Board Botanic Gardens Rules -then the first non sponsored link Google returns for me an information page that has a link to their rules on the right hand side of the information.
