This is the best place in Singapore to do last minute souvenir shopping! You are able to find absolutely everything in Chinatown's street market. From small fridge magnets, clothes, bags, jewelry to affordable authentic perfumes. While you are doing shopping, you can also pop into any of the local china restaurant for an awesome local meal!!

We spent around an hour here and took all souvenirs we wanted at affordable price. But my toddler was unhappy with the heat and weather.

The place is easily approachable via the train and the bus. The locality provides lots of shopping and cheap prices and lots of food joints.

My daughter and I took the subway to Chinatown, which was a very easy experience. The train stops right in Chinatown. The area itself is just like any other Chinatown area, with cheap souvenirs and the likes. They do have a very nice restaurant area where the street is covered by a canopy. Which saved us from the downpour of... More

My 11yr old son and I came for some cheap shopping and that is what we got. 3 for $10 items galore. So many different stalls but pretty much selling the same things. Some can vary in prices though. I got a tshirt for $2.90, other places sell for $9.90. It pays to shop around a bit. It was a... More

In most cities around the world you can find a Chinatown, from Sydney and Melbourne to San Francisco to of course, more regional versions across Asia - and Singapore is no exception. Bordered around Pagoda Street, Smith Street and Temple Street, the area is a vibrant mix of colours, foods, restored colonial architecture and of course, milling with people. Its... More

Yes, in a lot of ways, Chinatown is the usual Street Market experience but if you are looking for that 'little something' to take back home then this is the place to visit. There is the usual array of lightweight clothing available including a few stalls where clothing can be made for you, different types of bags, and other Singapore-specific... More

This place is colourful and worth walking around but full of Chinese merchandise. If you want something for a few dollars this is the place.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
