Neighbourhood: Marina Bay
More of a mini city than a neighbourhood in the traditional sense, the iconic Marina Bay aims to dazzle and entertain visitors of all kinds. This is the Singapore found in glossy brochures, featuring a world-class hotel, casino, shops, restaurants, bars, and other attractions all geared towards pure entertainment. The SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands provides a stunning view of the city, a must-see photo opportunity for visitors and locals alike. The ArtScience Museum always has a top-quality exhibition, and Gardens by the Bay is a fascinating manifestation of the government’s vision of Singapore as a “city in a garden”. Enticing Marina Bay is well worth a visit.

- HweeLing2 contributionsNice experience but need better services at ticketingI was visiting the Mars: The Red Mirror exhibition. The initial ticketing was not too great. I am attended by shelia, and she was pretty rude to me, replying me with an attitude. Even when i thanks her for service, she didnt lift her head up or any acknowledgement. However the following exhibition and service was nice. The exhibition was filled with many interesting elements that allow me to learn about mars. Within that exhibition, there is also a friendly staff that explained the exhibit when i expressed perplexed. Overall the exhibition was nice but the customer service did damper the overall experience and i hope there is improvement on it.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 February 2024
- Alex ZarfatiRome, Italy152 contributionsMany reservations about temporary exhibitionsThe structure is beautiful on the outside. 'Future World' is worth a visit especially for Instagram fetishists and families with children. The other exhibitions alternate and therefore everything depends on the time of the visit. Find out before doing what happened to us, who spent too much on routes that were not worth the price of the ticket.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 29 February 2024
- ArnicdewinterLeusden, The Netherlands127 contributionsStandard exhibition not interesting for adultsInspiring building both outside and inside. The price for a standard ticket only provides access to the permanent exhibition. This one is only interesting for children; not for adult. 30 Singapore dollars for 15 minutes, including 10 minutes of waiting, is a bit much.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 10 March 2024

The staff were amazing and the 90 mins we spent there was definitely a highlight. We loved seeing our colouring in come to life and we couldn’t get the kids off the climbing set. Location is perfect, make sure you pop into Apple Store nearby and Marina Bay shops - wow - with lots of places to grab a bite or a gondola ride.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 April 2024
- Wei Bing LIpoh, Malaysia464 contributionsGreat for Families with Children Aged 5 to 12 Years! My Uncle & I were on holiday in Singapore, we were staying at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. After walking around the entire Marina bay, past the Merlion statue and the Singapore Esplanade exhibition centre, we decided to visit the iconic building which sits on the waterfront of the Marina Bay Sands shopping mall, the ArtScience Museum. Fortunately for us, there were some tickets available for the Future Worlds exhibit at the time that we turned up at the ticketing counter. We only visited the Future Worlds exhibit, a permanent feature at the ArtScience Museum in Singapore, therefore I cannot comment on the other temporary exhibits going on at the time. The Future Worlds exhibit is very interesting, it is ideal for families with children between the age of 5 to 12 years-old. Some of the exhibits are interactive, especially the ones where you can draw and colour marine creatures and aeroplanes of your choice with the provided crayons, scan your completed drawing, and watch them come to life on the big screen together with other visitors' drawings! This is a nice introduction to Teamlabs Planet and Teamlabs Borderless in Tokyo, Japan. After this visit, I am looking forward to visiting both the Teamlabs exhibitions in Japan in July 2025! As for the Future Worlds exhibit here, I would recommend everyone who has children and grandchildren aged between 5 to 12 years, to bring your young ones here for half a day of wholesome and interactive fun!Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 30 April 2024
- Kini68Christchurch, New Zealand318 contributionsWell worth a visitWe went to the Frida Kahlo: The Life of an Icon exhibition. It was very worthwhile and $28 for non-residents of Singapore. The exhibition is colourful, interesting and an immersive experience. Highly recommended. Don’t bother trying to book tickets online though - the site makes you think it has timed entry tickets (which it does not). You can just arrive and buy your ticket there. We had to anyway as the online booking site was a failure and the hotels would not book tickets on your behalf.Visited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 16 May 2024
- TravellingGsMelbourne, Australia125 contributionsIconic buildingWe’ve visited Singapore before and didn’t realise the lotus building is actually a museum. Future world was good though not all of it was operational and so were able to get the Goddess: Brave Bold Beautiful exhibition included in our ticket price which made it worth it. The Goddess exhibition was great. It celebrates strong bold women in cinema. In Future world we took some great pics with all the light projections, some of which were interactive. It didn’t knock our socks off but it was a pleasant way to spend a couple hours. It’s such a unique building and great to see up close.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 June 2024

We attempted to visited the Art Science Museum on a rainy day in the early afternoon to find a sign at the entrance saying all tickets were sold out for the day for Future Worlds (understandable given the weather). However I hopped onto their website and found availability for 5:15pm so purchased easily online.
When we returned around 5pm we could enter the exhibition immediately. And oh boy, a special treat for the senses!!! Very clever interactive displays, a delight to observe and where available, participate.
We were “big kids” following our coloured sea creatures on screen and racing across the coloured hovering steps. The final LED room was amazing to walk through and then watch the changing display.
If you have time I would definitely recommend the opportunity to visit (you can prebook online).

Striking exhibition space, which you enter past lily ponds. The ticketing is really confusing and we had no idea what we had purchased beyond the digital exhibition. We all enjoyed this and found the visuals and interactivity pretty good, spending over an hour there. But the whole of the rest of the museum seemed to be given over to a Studio Ghibli exhibition which was of no interest to us, so diluting the value of our ticket. There does not seem to be any permanent exhibits and the science content overall is missing.

We visited on a Sunday, about 1pm and it wasn't very busy. We walked straight into the Frida Kahlo: The Life of an Icon exhibition which was fantastic, beautifully presented and informative. We then waited about 5 mins to go into Future World, which I didn't enjoy as much. It was quite small and not really much to it. I imagine it would be a lot of fun for children. I would recommend researching the current exhibits to see if they will interest you before deciding to visit here.

We arrived at the museum just before 5 pm thinking we would have 2 hours before it closed and then would head over to the Garden by the Bays to watch the light show. We ended up waiting in line for about 20 minutes to get our tickets because there was exactly one cashier open (the other one was "busy"). So, it was well after 5 pm by the time we had our tickets for the 2 exhibitions (Future World and Sensory Odyssey). We were then told we had to enter the 2nd exhibition no later than 6 pm or we would not be allowed in. First they take forever to get us our tickets and then they limit the entry time!
Note: we were told the entry price was reduced because some of the exhibitions were closed. It was still expensive at about S$50 per person for 2 exhibitions.
As it turned out, we really did not need the time. The future world was a total disappointment. I could see it being interesting for children and it was entertaining for all of 15 minutes for adults. However, as we paid about S$50 for the 2 exhibitions, it was simply not worth the money for us.
The Sensory Odyssey was better as it had really excellent videos to watch in the various rooms where you saw the life of insects and animals from a different perspective. Still, this was about S$25 to watch about 20-25 minutes of various videos. Overall, we felt we could have spent the money on something much more interesting or an excellent meal. We had gone to the Gardens by Bay exhibitions, which was about the same cost and a truly spectacular experience.

Unfortunately, our visit to the Singapore Science and Art Museum was an extremely disappointing experience. We headed to the museum with high expectations, expecting a spectacular exhibition that combined science and art in an inspiring way. However, the reality was very different.
From the start, dealing with the staff left much to be desired. The lack of kindness and professionalism was evident. They sold us tickets at 30 euros each, making sure it was for the permanent exhibition, which was what we were most interested in seeing. However, upon entering, we were informed that this exhibition was closed for maintenance, something that was not mentioned at any time before we bought the tickets. We feel deceived and uninformed.
We tried to ask staff for guidance to see what other options we had inside the museum, but we were met with unhelpful responses and, in some cases, bordering on poor education. The lack of courtesy and willingness to help was frustrating, and this only contributed to our museum visit being a total disappointment.
It is a shame that a place with such potential offers such a poor service. We would not recommend visiting this museum until they improve customer service and provide correct information to visitors prior to ticket purchases. We left the museum feeling disappointed and feeling like we had wasted our time and money.

We decided to give this "museum" a go considering it was owned by the Marina Bay Sands, and so must be good. We were wrong.
Upon entering, we struggled to find the entrance due to very poor signage and so spent a good 5 minutes going up and down in the lifts - the staff were mostly unhelpful and did not seem to understand. When we eventually found the entrance and entered it seemed that the whole exhibition was just projected images of moving butterflies! Despite this, the crystal light tunnel was very interesting and unique, however I would not describe any aspect of it as being scientific.
The VR Cinema on the fourth floor was closed, the entirety of the third floor was taken up by some Japanese anime-style art that did not interest us, and required an extra ticket at, of course, further expense. Floor two was a tiny and extremely busy cafe which had very few seats. All of floor B1 had was only a little wall telling you how sustainable they are.
We spent most of the time going up and down trying to find things in the crowded lifts and the doors don't close quickly as other visitors spam the buttons.
This isn't a museum, or even an exhibition. It's a total joke, especially for S$62 per person, we spent only around 30 minutes here in total and got our fridge magnet and left! The best part is free - looking at the architecture from the outside.

Honestly, I haven't felt so ridiculous for a long time and paid just over 60 euros for 3 people. This really has nothing to do with a museum, and nothing to do with science and/or art. I think you should honestly say that is a multimedia playground with slide for children between 3 - 11 years. Then you can spend a good hour in the two small rooms. There are some projections that are entertaining. Then you can paint another picture, climb, slide and that was it. Interesting that another exhibition for anime (real pictures) costs an extra 80 $ (60 euros) per person, I would have found it interesting but it was booked up and therefore not accessible. Otherwise you can buy children's books and stuff in the museum store and good. It looks really great from the outside. My conclusion: You can also play with children better in other places than this strange place.

I bought 4 tickets for the ArtScience Museum at a cost of S$62 each - a total spend of S$248.
The main thing to see was Future World which doesn't show you anything about the world in the future but is small collection of interactive exhibits using clever lighting and projectors that you can see in around 10 minutes.
The rest of the exhbition space was taken over by an exhibit called The World of Studio Ghibli which seemed to be neither art nor science.
There were some quotes on the wall from Albert Einstein who I am sure has been turning in his grave about being uncontrollably associated with the ArtScience Museum.
In my country, for same cost of the tickets, you can buy a flight or train ticket to see real art in the Louvre in Paris or the official Einstein Museum in Germany.
Singapore is a lovely place to visit but this is definitely one place to avoid.

Absolutely the attraction with the highest cost in Singapore. Too bad it's definitely not worth it. Another world more than an exhibition is a place suitable only for children to play, the other thematic exhibitions that vary throughout the year, in my case as well as uninteresting were also scarce in content. An exhibition on Frida Kahlo without a single work. Absolutely the most disappointing experience I have lived in my travels. Duration 45 minutes cost one euro per minute.

ArtScience Museum team has outdone themselves by bringing, "The World of Studio Ghibli" exhibition, since Miyazaki and his team is known for pride in his extraordinary work and picky about how they are being displayed. The director mentioned on CNA that they pursued the studio for ten years for this exhibition to take place here!
The resulting thoughtfulness is on full display in the way the studio's own story is being told chronologically against the backdrop of historical events, the really inviting exhibits that encourage visitors to be naturally drawn to immerse in the films' keystone scenes, a few interactive craft activities' corners and the various caring staff-on-duty who gave sweet reminders on best angles etc (e.g. older Chinese lady at the Totoro craft corner and awesome Malay staff at Totoro bus stop and No Face train scenes)...
Giant merchandise shop at the end brought lots of keepsakes all the way from Japan - pretty cool. The way they incorporated Singaporean culture into some exhibits (e.g. SINGAPOREAN FOOD in the feast for No Name in "Spirited Away") and even created some "Peranakan-infused-Ghibli-bags/skirts" - super cool.
Tip: Best to book a timeslot on their website in advance. Else you might not get in.
The reason we keep returning: Always something interesting at ArtScience Museum.

Hi, I'm planning to visit to the art science museum with my parents ( both senior citizens above 65), myself and my daughter. We are all Singaporeans. Are we able to purchase the family package for the 4 of us? Or do we have to buy separate tickets for each age category?

If you fit the family category specs then it’s probably cheaper.
