No visit to Sentosa is complete without meeting its most famous, 37-metre tall resident, the Sentosa Merlion. The legendary Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and a fish's body - as a guardian of prosperity which personifies Singapore's history as an important seaport. The lion head depicts the folklore of Prince Sang Nila Utama's discovery of lion (singa) and City (pura) while the fish tail symbolises the fishing village of 'Temasek', also known as 'sea-town' in Javanese.

Set foot in the Merlion's mouth to get up close and personal with the legend. But don't stop till you get to the crown! At 60 metres above sea level, you will actually be seeing Singapore through the perspective of the Guardian of Prosperity.

Come soak up the 360⁰ commanding view and bask in the aura of this endearing national symbol. You'll see why legends, myths and stories all point to this regal creature for the swift recovery of Singapore's economy from the Asian financial crisis.

Initially I thought this was a dragon but it turns out that it is actually a Merlion, which is like a mermaid but instead of having the maid part of it it has the lion part of it. Mind you, it is basically a really big statue so I would hardly call this all that wonderful or fascination, unless you... More

Lots of steps and ramps. Tough for disabled in Singapore heat but magnificent sight in day or night. Can go up inside for the view lights up at night and overlooks. Fun area feuds o one side and fast food and shops on the other, For full gift shopping go one more stop on free tram to Resorts area

First, you enjoy a very good film about the history of the Merlion. You are then taken up the elevator to the observation decks. There is one on top of the lion's head and one from its mouth. Both views of Singapore are fantastic. You also get a souvenir coin when you visit.

Yes it is. Biggest lion in Singapore. Saw it. Took tons of pictures. Sometimes they have live music close to this area on special occasion. You can go inside and sneak out from this lion's mouth. Have fun.

My friends and I went to this Merlion in Sentosa. Paid $10 each person and it's is not worth it. First they give you a token to put in a Merlion head to get a small gift then watch a little video and the time you get there at the top, the views are not so nice...

Yep, tick. Move on. Bigger than the mainland Merlion, but still nothing special. A must see for its iconic value, but 2 minutes is all it needs.
