No visit to Sentosa is complete without meeting its most famous, 37-metre tall resident, the Sentosa Merlion. The legendary Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and a fish's body - as a guardian of prosperity which personifies Singapore's history as an important seaport. The lion head depicts the folklore of Prince Sang Nila Utama's discovery of lion (singa) and City (pura) while the fish tail symbolises the fishing village of 'Temasek', also known as 'sea-town' in Javanese.

Set foot in the Merlion's mouth to get up close and personal with the legend. But don't stop till you get to the crown! At 60 metres above sea level, you will actually be seeing Singapore through the perspective of the Guardian of Prosperity.

Come soak up the 360⁰ commanding view and bask in the aura of this endearing national symbol. You'll see why legends, myths and stories all point to this regal creature for the swift recovery of Singapore's economy from the Asian financial crisis.

My husband and I visited the Sentosa Merlion in November 2016. When I went to purchase the tickets I was advised that due to bad weather conditions we would only be able to visit part of the Merlion. The head/top of the Merlion was not open. We decided to go ahead and purchase tickets. We decided to be cheeky and... More

I know Singapore needed to be the best or as attractive as it can if it comes to touristy things in South East Asia but this is the worst and felt scammed tourism spot when I was in here. Why? Firstly, it should be free of admission since it is the Singapore's proud. Secondly, it offers the view of the... More

Singapore is nice but expensive and you can already go around the whole country for one day. My experience was okay.

I didn't climb up the Merlion but no visit to Sentosa should be without a photo of the Merlion. There is an amazing park like area one can go through as part of the cost to enter. It is a nice high view of the area and conveniently located next to one of the Sentosa train/monorail stations.

Was in Sentosa on 19 November 2016. Was at Sentosa Express Imbiah Station, surprised to see the many colours on the tall gigantic Merlion. To realise that Sentosa will be running nightly light show from 19 November 2016 - 2 January 2017, part of the year end celebration programme. Many exciting visitors taking photographs. Really colourful and amazing. Glad to... More

The Sentosa Merlion is a smaller replica of the famous one on the Promenade, but it is still a good and overlooks a nice area. If you wander around you will eventually come across it.

We visited the Sentosa Merlion as one of our 5 attractions to visit using the PLAY 5 fun pass. The base of the statue has a small gallery of mythical sea creature models with accompanying text which were amusing to read. Afterward there is a short but very educational video explaining the history of the Merlion and how it came... More
