Beautifully restored temple near airport. It's worth visiting on the way to prambanan. Architecture is bit different and it's kinda sunken or below ground level. Like any place in Java, visit early or later in the day rather in the noon. That way you will...More

It is very accessible from the airport and you can drop by to this temple, as it is along the way to Prambanan. One thing I like about this place is, it is more serene, not so crowded, actually there are more chickens than people...More

The Sambisari Temple is a 9 century Hindu temple. It was buried by lava after a Mount Merapi eruption centuries ago and discovered by a farmer in 1966 who bumped his foot in to a piece of carved rock. If you are in the neighborhood...More

Great architecture and history, not crowded so you can see it at your pace. A Hindu Sivalinga still exists through no prayers. Read the history before visiting. Great for photos

Visit this one first, before going to Prambanan, as it's smaller and less impressive. It won't be crowded though. There were more chickens than people when we dropped by.

I along with my family visited the Sambisari Temple at Yogyakarta, Indonesia on 25th April 2017. We visited this place in the afternoon en route to Prambanan Temple (as the two places are close by). The tickets are also very affordably priced, approx USD 1.5...More

In compare with other temples in Yogya, this place is rather small but it's extremely attractive me with the location (near the center) and the way they reserve it. It's quite, peaceful and clean

We found the temple by accident after having breakfast while seeing through the map. The place is absolutely awesome and very clean. The entrance ticket is very cheap, 2k IDR only!

This is a smaller temple here in Yogyakarta. It is unique because it sits under ground level. If you want to watch our YouTube review, search "Martin Johnson Sambi Sari Yogyakarta". We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. :)
