Just visited this museum as opined by my resourceful tour guide driver. I must say worth every cents/rupiahs that you're going to pay. Rich in Yogyakarta Royals heritage beginnings, breathtaking structure, paintings, sculptures & ambience. To add & spice things up, my english guide (a pretty bespectacled local lady) just made our tour much more interesting and lively. Kudos to... More

The somewhat remote location of the museum plays a large part of the charm of the place. The lushness of the surrounding makes the area very cool, and beautiful. The museum is partly funded by the royal family and a large part of the exhibits are about the royal family with many items, paintings and correspondence on display. If you... More

This museum had a great architectural design. It's like walk through a hidden labyrinth in a forest. Although we can't take picture inside, but i can ensure you wouldn't regret. We can find huge Javanese collections from Kraton Jogja & Solo (Kingdom) inside, i.e. Gamelan, paintings, photos and also the legendary Batik fabric. A guide will explain the whole collections.... This is a must visit for me. I have visited this museum 4 times, and still longing for more. You could learn a lot about Javanese Culture here. They also provide a guide to tell you everything about this museum. They also have a nice restaurant. Very nice.

Ticket Price IDR 30,000 include tour guide and drink called 'Jamu Awet Muda' or in english ageless traditional herbal drink (Jamu: predominantly herbal medicine made from natural materials, such as parts of plants such as roots, bark, flowers, seeds, leaves and fruits). The tour guide still young but really knowledgeable about the history of every display in the museum. The... More

The museum was neat and clean. We can visit there with one guide (by small group), she/he explained the whole area about in 30 minutes. However the museum was interesting for adult and children, one of the best museum in Indoneisa I think. Must visit!

About 1 hours away from city. This Museum collecting the information about Surakarta Palace and Yogyakarta Palace, unique concept and informatif educating. I like the lay out and maintainence for this museum. Unfortunetly we can not take picture inside the museum. a bit scarry but its okay i think the venue and the old collection. Overall i love this museum.

The guide delivered the story in a fun way and in complete information. The warm drink was so good. The restaurant offers delicacy after the walk in the labyrinth. However, the cleanliness of the toilet is poor.
