If you look for nostalgic and authentic Jakartans street food, this place could be quite satisfactory. In their new air-conditioned market building, you can also find a very good quality Batik and "Kain Tenun" or traditional weaving clothes from Eastern Indonesia (Flores, Kupang, Maumere, etc) - which I found very exciting.
Get a taxi, parking could be stressful here.

There are quite a number of textiles shops..not inside of the Mayestik mall but on the outside all along the mall. Beautiful good quality laces reasonably priced namely from Fancy Textiles & Mumbay Textiles. The shops are big with aircond..friendly English speaking staff.. We spent good 2-3 hours in each shop comes with snacks & drinks :)
What i like about the mayestik mall itself is the upper most floor... U can find their local tailors (almost the whole floor) especially for the famous kebayas.. intricately done with beading.

This is a new fabric store with 4 floors of fabric! Very clean with air conditioning, English speaking and extremely friendly and personable shop owner. There are tons of seating on every floor and you will get your own personal assistant! Every floor is filled with all sorts of fabric from silk, to sateen. We bought over $4M IDR worth of fabric. I didn't want to go anywhere else. It's a one stop shop loaded with all sorts of designs and fabric material at an incredible low price!

Most of the shops are with the rude sale assistants.if they refused to accept the bargain they would bring away the stuffs.
I forgot to snap photo of the shop which refused to cut the batik cloth because the salesman wanted me to buy the balance.
If i was not buying the balance together with my desired lengths, he wont sell.
This is the first time i came to a shop which refused to sell to customer. They should honour the customer.
Eventually i managed to find the same batik designs in LG floor Block B Tanah Abang mall even cheaper than in Mayestik.
The only cherish experience in Mayestik market was the food in Teras Budhe. The cuisines were fantastic.
You can find same material and design in Tanah Abang mall.i think the same owner in Mayestic market.but in Tanah Abang alot more cheaper.
It just the matter of exploring and find the right shop.

Great great place to shop. Nearby, there are rows and rows of shops selling various unsew fabrics ("kain ela") i.e. lace, cotton, brocade, etc. In the market itself, we went to a snack shop selling all kind of snacks (pisang cheese, krepek etc.) and nuts. Must go! But not so suitable with small children.

Mayestik is wellknown as a place to look for textiles. Various textiles are provided by many stores there. There are also food stalls and shopping mall.
Usually this place is very busy.

This area contains a wide variety of traditional stores where you can find many options for fabrics of all kinds. Our taylor told us that's a more affordable option for batik fabric.

A good place to come to get your textile such as lace, cotton, chiffon etc. There's a mall in the middle and outside the mall are the textile store. There are plenty of stores and the selection and price may varies.
