This is a lovely monument. The grounds are immaculate and vegetation is healthy, pruned and well managed. Plan on about an hour for the visit to this important place of national pride.

The night when I visited this monument, there was a very long queue of people who want to going up to see the night view of Jakarta, and it was a Very disappointing experience, one had to wait for nearly an hour, the view itself is not great.

We went to visit the monument around 10 am and it was just on time before the school kids took over the whole place! So be early also because of the heat. Luckily you can wait in the shadow on side of the monument if there is long queue. Views are great on clear days!

I recommend you to go here at night. Because it will be less crowded and not very hot. I like the view from the top of this monument. You can see the building in Jakarta from here, with its city light and the traffic. I suggest you to be patient when you go here on weekend.

I've been to Jakarta on several occasions already, but never been to this place before, however I was so satisfied when I visited the Monas. from the top of it you will be able to have a 360 degree view of Jakarta.

I've been here several times. Best is during Ramadhan, or else, you can forget going to the top as the queue can be never ending. Very nice place to take your children below 10. The museum is rather old and dark - could have been improved. Toilet is OK. Parking was a bit far than expected, but they provide shuttle.... More
