Jakarta is a crazy, vibrant city where the traffic never stops. The Old Town Square offers a refuge from all this while you gather your senses and take in the colonial buildings. Seek a guide called Argus. He will take you through the surprisingly clean slums.

Unfortunately, the rest of the... More

The Jakarta Old Town centre is one of the few places in Jakarta where locals can gather outdoors. You will find people riding colourful bicycles, sitting in groups or taking photos. It's definitely a refreshing change from the crowded and rushed rest of Jakarta. Buildings and artefacts could have more effort in restoration and protection from the Jakarta government though... If you want to learn a little about the colonial past of Indonesia it is a must see. I love these old colonial buildings constructed by the Dutch.
