This site requires more fitness than most sites I have visited because of the stairs, they are everywhere. The hundreds of steps up the hill to the mausoleum provide a series of great views and provide a photo op, and the chance to take a...More

Remarkable example of the way Chinese construct a Mausoleum for the celebration of the life of past leaders. Must be in reasonably good shape to get to the mausoleum as a few km walk then 300 or 400 steps. Beuatiful parklands surround although as in...More

It is a sacred place to visit as it has the tomb of the most prominent pioneer/figure in China's history for democracy and freedom. The temples in the surrounding areas are also nice. So is the park itself. However, as in any other touristic places...More

Purple mountain area is a great, green and very quiet area. Lakes, trees etc. is OK however to me it is not worth to ascend 400 stairs just to see the mausoleum. You may visit if you have a lot! of time.

The views are incredible from the stairs up to the mausoleum. The trees and plantings are extraordinary. Parks connect the mausoleum to the Ming Tombs and other structures. We were there when the cherry trees were in bloom and it created a magical setting. Ponds,...More

Entry to the Zhongshan National Park Route which includes about 4 attractions including the Ming Tombs and Linggu Scenic Area, I read is about 100 yuan. Is there a discount for students? Any discount during winter months?
