Half the HK film were filmed here at least for a scene

Was actually trying to locate the Bing Sutt Starbucks, and it was a surprise to see this. Instantly relived about a dozen of HK movies that filmed here. The main point would be... read more

The Duddell Street Steps and old Gas Lamps are a fun find on the Central (C) Route of the Central and Western Heritage Trail. This trail takes visitors through the historical area of Central and Sheung Wan district where you can see remnants of the 19th and early 20th century colonial period in Hong Kong. Here you find one of... More

I was passing nearby and decided to try and find these steps and historic gas lamps which seem to still operate on gas today according to the explanation board. They are certainly nice gas lamps and an impressive set of stone steps but probably not too much more I can say.

This is a legendary place. Since we cannot gain access to TVB Film Center in Hong Kong any more, the Duddell Steps are the must-see for Hong Kong movie lovers. I visit the Duddell by 11pm to get away from the crowd and enjoy the emptiness. There are too many TVB movies that use the Duddell Steps to film the... More

The title of my review was exactly my first thought when I arrived at the steps. Arriving there from the Mid-Levels Escalator, I even thought I had missed it, until I took out the screenshot of the map and it clearly stated I was at the right place. Well damn. Apparently not only isn't this flight of steps the scene... More

Quiet easy to miss. Something wouldn't go out of the way to do but easily planned to slot in with other tasks. Quick photo that's it.

I just stumbled across this walking to Central from my hotel in Ice House Street. The main point of interest here are the antique gas lamps, but if it weren't from the tourist signage and write up, I would have just passed by without taking notice.

Yeah, they're "colonial" but...they're steps. Not particularly festive of lovely by any means. However, the two gas lamps there were a bit more lovely and worth a photo if you're in the area, but in retrospect...probably not worth the time it took to find the place (it is a bit hidden).

If you're from Hong Kong, it's almost mandatory that you'll have some photos in full wedding regalia taken of you standing on these steps with your soon-to-be spouse. If you're not from Hong Kong, you might be wondering about the significance of these steps. Well, they're historic steps, possible the first steps the British made. Or some other lie to... More

In the Central District, not far from Lan Kwai Fung and the Foreign Corespondents' Club (FCC) you can find the old Duddell Street Steps and four gas lamp posts, dating from the colonial period. There are four lamp posts that remain active, being turned on around 6pm each evening and put out around 6am each morning while being maintained by... More
