The dried seafood shops are concentrated here and so the smells are free for all to taste. Highly recommend you take the ding ding to the end of the road and walk back. Very interesting seafood to be looked at. And even shark's fins taller than a person.

Great place to see varieties of dried seafood used in Chinese cooking. Middle class Hong Kong, some nice restaurants.

This is one of the most genuine neighborhoods in Hong Kong. You can go to Central if you are expecting urban and modern city view; however, if you are looking for something different, Shek Tung Tsui (this neighborhood around Des Voeux Road West) is definitely a great choice. Not until the 1950s was this place transformed from the biggest brothel... More

Visited this area whilst walking from Kennedy station to Central. Loved the food stalls which are traditional and not McDonalds prepared food. Saw numerous places to get breakfast where a person on the footpath in front of their shop cooking and serving directly to their clients. Small shops, preparing the food in plain sight. This is what I thought Hong... More

I loved my time walking along this road which is literally teaming with dried fish shops. The small can be a bit overwhelming and you probably don't want to know what everything is but the sight is amazing and many of the shops are very photogenic but check they allow photos. Also there are birds nest shops and herbalists. Be... More

"Dried Fish Street" is one of the original old Hong Kong areas although all modern buildings now. Stayed at 60 West Aparthotel which is recommended. The sheer number of the DFS on the Main Street as well of many side streets is a real experience. Apparently it is also the focus for wholesale trading too. It's very busy so after... More

If you walk from the Holiday Inn Soho to the Ibis, you will see more dried fish shops than you will ever want to see in your lifetime, maybe 5 lifetimes, so walking further along Des Voeux west is a waste of time, unless you have a lot of time on your hands. There are literally one dried fish shop... More

We love walking through different areas of the city and this area definitely is unique with the smell of dried fish and the incredible types of food you can see and smell along the walk. There are many shops and you can stop, look around and purchase if you are brave. I imagine that this is what old school Hong... More

Walked through here so many times in our stay and each time saw something new and different. With many other roads in HK it is great to walk along and just open the eyes to a different world
