If you're like me and interested in Kowloon Walled City and its history and demise, you can't miss this park which stands on the grounds of the old walled city. The part of the park that is directly related to the city is nestled inside...More

Tucked away in the suburbs in Kowloon is this hidden gem. It is a nice place to spend 2-3 hours taking in the history and the surroundings.

Put this in your itinerary only if you have too much time or visiting other attractions in the area. Only a small exhibition area on the history of the Kowloon Walled City. Was a bit disappointed. Maybe if we had managed to catch a guided...More

Quiet area, you wouldn't think you're still in the city centre. Gardens are full of colour (depending on time of year) lots of large bonsai to look at as well.

We walked from our hotel in Ma Tau Wai, & it took 45 minutes. It would’ve been something to see in its day, & I’d’ve loved to have met the people who once lived here, bet they could tell a tale or two. It’s a...More

We took a cross-harbour bus to what we call the "dark side" of Hong Kong and were pleasantly surprised. While I wish they had more photos of the fascinating Kowloon walled city on exhibit, there was enough there to wet the appetite and make me...More

I wasn't sure what to expect when I visited the walled city. While this is an historic part of Kowloon and the original Yaman Complex buildings (much restored) date back to the 1840s, the peaceful walled grounds were once home to a thriving community of...More

It was a slum, it was a hub for drugs, prostitution, illegal gambling, and so on. But it was also a community of less privileged people helping each other to make ends meet. Yes, there were loads of illegal dentists, but most, if not all...More

The park was pretty and calm with nice pools and shady buildings. The history of the area was explained on a few displays near the centre which was interesting. The park itself was a little underwhelming though having just come from the spectacular Nan Lian...More

When you read about the park online, you expect to show up and see signs of the bulldozed ghetto everywhere. Instead, it's mostly a beautiful but unassuming Chinese park, with only the exterior brick walls and a few small exhibits and ruins in the center...More

There are two sections there - the Walled City section and a small park. I don't recall seeing anyone riding bicycles there. Perhaps for the small park, children can ride their bicycles.
