I'm both, which meant this was a fun day out for me. But others may not think so. I'd still visit anyway.

Near the HSBC and not too far from IFC and central's tall buildings this is a colonial style building similar to many in London. I personally don't like the style but it makes for a good picture.

Between Statue Square and Chater Garden, the court of Final Appeal building is designed by the same architects of the Buckingham Palace. Design of the early 20th century and historical importance, but you cannot get into the Building. In front of the building is view to the statue square and International Finance Center tower.

This interesting Neo-Classical Building from 1911 is a fusion of styles. It has a classical format with a colonnade but if you stand at the Cenotaph you can see a Chinese roof above the classical roof line. This is a handsome building in a central location and is one of the few remaining colonial structures in Hong Kong.

The exterior provides you with a background for photo-taking. Find a bench nearby, sit down and have a look of the features of this historic building, the former High Court and then the Legislative Council.

We joined this tour as part of a school field trip and was amazed on how the Hong Kong Legislative Council worked and how things moved in this very dynamic and pulsating city and its citizens have to offer. I wish I could say the same about the Philippines. We participated in a Legislative Meeting of our own with the... More

The Legislative council has been moved to its new home. Forget about the old colonial building. The new Legislative Council is a modern one among the Government complex, which houses most of the main government offices. The outside is unattractive. However, inside the building some nice art works are displayed. Most of these works are done by local artists. There... More

The Legco Building is not a high priority attraction for most visitors to HK because of its present purpose of housing the Legislative Council. However, for history buffs or those particularly interested in HK's declared monuments, this building might be of interest if you have time on your hands. The Legco Building has historical relevance in that it formerly housed... More

Staying in Central

Neighbourhood Profile
Central
When people think of Hong Kong, most imagine movies with famous skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The area widely known as Central is the major financial hub and entertainment district, which truly lives up to the saying, “work hard, play hard.” Bars stay open late into the night and there just happens to be a street party every weekend. Although everything seems to be operating at lightning speed, Central is full of quiet, hidden gems. Nestled between office towers are wet markets and some of the city’s oldest restaurants dating back to the 1960s. Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Retreat from the crowds by exploring beautifully restored historical buildings and even a green oasis of botanical gardens.
