We took the bus to pak kung Au from Tung Chung. There we started our hike up to Lantau peak. We really did try to make it fast and up to the peak we had a time of 47 minuets. Well at the top winds were blazing and due to mist visabilaty was close to none. The entire hike up... More

Hidden behind the Po Lin monastery, is the awesome Lantau trail. Nice hiking trail with low difficulty. Would definitely recommend, if one has time (weather permitting) and is inclined to be away from the crowds at the Big Buddha/Po Lin monastery, which tends to be more touristy. Fairly easily doable with kids too! The hiking trails of HKG are a... More

I'm in pretty good shape but I was hiking 'against the clock' and almost turned back. I recommend trail segment #3 from Pak Kung Au to Lantau Peak to Ngong Ping, but I don't recommend starting it, as I did, at almost 4pm. I just barely made it to NP by 6pm when the cable car closes, and would have... More

Many trails up to the peak. Some are not broadly advertised online. But nonetheless make sure you plan your tip and paths carefully before heading to the trails.

This was my first time in Hong Kong and I have recently taken interest in hiking. We did the dragons back train a few days back and then got to this one on a Monday. Firstly, this is much more rigorous at least for me and my wife but so is the thrill. We did pak Kung Au- Lantau peak-... More

We spent a week in Lantau based at Silvermine Resort Hotel, Mui Wo. I tried two rough trails up and down Sunset Peak and Lantau Peak. Also, I tried the trail to Discovery Bay, about 1,000 concrete steps to climb and an easy walk down. All about 800 - 900m. Wonderful experience, lovely weather and spectacular scenery. Busy at the... We started the hike from Pak Kung Au we took Bus 23 from Tung Chun MTR. The route taken was Pak Kung Au to Ngong Ping Village where there are buses that depart back to Tung Chung and the ride takes about 50 mins. The sign at the start did mention this hike would take 2 and half hours. The... More

It´s a great hike, that should not be underestimated. Parts are quite remote, so getting there takes time. There might even be snakes, so beware and take good hiking shoes with you.

Possibly I have check my karma with sunset peak as this is the second time unable to reach the top. We were a group of 7 Ho decided to climb Lantau trail for sunset peak from Mui Wo side. Ferry from central to mui wo and a cab till Lantau country park entrance was uneventful. We started at L006 and... More

Lantau Trail A 70-kilometre trail which crosses Lantau Island, was opened in December 1984. It is divided into 12 Sections. The Lantau Trail has good visitor facilities along the way, and the route is well marked. The trail scales both Lantau Peak (the highest peak in Lantau and the second highest peak in Hong Kong) and Sunset Peak (869 m).... More
