Just seeing the marvel of the Budda was worth the trip! What a marvel to see that this was built the size it is so high in the sky. It was a very nice place to visit, but definitely should take public transportation. Take the MTR towards Disney and then bus 23 right there. MTR from TST district was $20... More

Took the tour with Lantau Island Tours company. Some interesting locations and some not. Great experience at The Big Buddha and Fishing village. The beach stop was fairly uninteresting at this time of year as it was deserted! The climax of a cable car trip did not occur as the facility was undergoing a 3 month maintenance to replace a... Best place to visit if you live in the city. Quaint and very warm. Although it looks very out, there is very modern cafes and restaurants hidden in old buildings. For those going before June 2017, the cable car is not available.

My trip to Lantau Island was the highlight of my trip to Hong Kong. I visited Tai-O, a fishing village with quintessential stilt houses. I did a hike up to the Tai-O infinity pool and visited the old police station which is now the Tai O Heritage Hotel. The views of the mountains in the mist were incredible. It was... More

Visiting the little fishing village of Tai O was really interesting. Houses built on stilts to house the fisherman bringing their catches to sell both live and dried was worth the trip. Quite a contrast to the high rises of the city. The Big Buddha was also quite impressive. Just know that only certain buses/cabs can operate on Lantau...if you're... More

A memorable ride to the big Buddha in the cable car across the sea. One must travel on a cool day. Good to click pics and enjoy the Buddhist vegetarian meal.

Visit this century old village! Despite the modernisation of HK and the departure of most rural folks to the city, it seems that Tai O manages to preserve its culture and history !

It was overcast then raining the day we went. Got a glass bottom car on way up, good move as the rain started heavily by the time we got to the top. We basically turned around and came back. Quite touristy and rain gear was pricey. Relatively long queues, younger kids would get very bored waiting. Our car got stuck... More
