During our trips in Asia we have seen quite a lot of night markets which were less famous as Temple Street Market but from our perspective were more typical. TSM seems to be designed to attract tourist more than locals. Prices asked at the beginning...More

I really wanted to visit the market before leaving after reading how authentic this market is. I was disappointed. It’s just a big tourist trap. Maybe locals do shop here but it seemed to be a lot of junk and the restaurants were filled with...More

We have seen many markets in Asia and this one is fairly typical. The quality here is higher than in Vietnam, and it does not appear to sell produce. But we found nothing wanted or needed.

It’s expected that you haggle with the vendors. I believe they mark up the price 300-400 % so don’t be afraid to counter with a low number. It all depends on what you are will to pay. Good luck. You’ll have fun bargaining.

Jordan / Yau Ma Tei
The Jordan and Yau Ma Tei neighbourhood is where you
will find some of the more authentic areas of Hong
Kong. Not as glamourous or busy as its neighbours Mong
Kok to the north or Tsim Sha Tsui to the south, Yau Ma
Tei is often mistakenly overlooked by visitors on
their trips to Hong Kong. Exploring parts of this area
makes you feel like you’ve been transported back in
time. A large part of the neighbourhood draws from the
