Hung Hom is a large and major area in the southeast of the Kowloon Peninsula between TST East (west) and To Kwa Wan (north). It is a mostly residential and industrial area but offers a few points of interest for tourists.
There are a couple of popular hotels and the HK Coliseum just south of the Hung Hom MTR Station. There is a fair promenade area that runs up to the Hung Hom Pier and Whampoa area, where you find more hotels, the popular Whampoa Garden Shopping mall and streets lined with local eateries around the Whampoa MTR Station and the streets that run up to the Ho Man Tin MTR Station. To the northeast of the Ho Man Tin MTR Station you will also find the Ko Shan Theatre and Park.
Note: A couple of MTR Stations have opened up in recent years including Ho Man Tin (2016) and To Kwan Wan (2021) making neighbourhoods in this area more accessible than in the past. However, on the whole, there is much less to do/see in the Hung Hom area compared to other districts on the Kowloon Peninsula. Visit to see a bit more of local 'Hong Kong' or if you have specific reason for wanting to be in the area. Otherwise, if you short on time in HK, you will probably want to concentrate your time and energy elsewhere.

There is an open air temple called Fuk Tak that is located along T section of Bulkeley, Dock and Po Loi Streets in Whampoa. This is open air temple with small shrine, incense burner, oven and hanging coils. It is topped with a traditional green tiled roof and bright red tiles. You can have a brief look if passing by before carrying onward. You can also combine a visit here with the historic Kun Iam Temple located around 4-5 minutes away on Station Lane.

This review is quite late. The Kowloon-Canton MRT line starts from here and ends at Lo Wu Station. We boarded the train to Lo Wu since we were going to cross the border to Shenzhen in mainland China. Hung Hom is mainly a residential area so tourists will find nothing interesting to see or do here.

Its slightly away and not connected by MTR. Only public transport is buses which are good and so is frequency. No major malls, eateries etc in this area. Its primarily a residential area with Whampoa Gardens as the only recreational place. I stayed here at a friends apartment. While my stay was free, I did face a little issue commuting primarily due to lack of MTR which is faster compared to buses.

A residential district bordering more exciting things like Tsim Sha Tsui.
Views are amazing while living is local and unobstructed by tourist activity.
Great place for local dowsing and just taking it easy.

I am just a business traveler traveling into Hong Kong for a day in/out.
As a traveler, you just don't know where you are going and will require to asked around especially you are not familiar with the area.
I purchased my return train ticket when I was departing Guangzhou. I finished my meeting early and is heading back and trying to get my train ticket changed.
I asked around 3 different counters and 2 of them were very rude. Shouting at me to go to C1, how do I know where C1 is? Why shouting if your job is servicing customer? Terrible.

Hung Hom is an old part of Kowloon and it is at the far end of TST behind Whoampoa area. Can get there by minibus or buses only. H.H. Is home to many older locals and new immigrants. It has a famous temple 'Quong Yam' and very popular with worshippers. There are many small eateries and local shops selling interesting food and stuff. H.H. Is worth visiting as it is not yet dominated by all those big chains selling the same stuff. You will have fun there and can still see many old parts of HK.

It's a fairly boring office/residential/shopping area - don't go unless you need to - like I did. The restaurants are nothing special and you can find the same shops in many other places.
