Only ten minutes from the village and bus station - just turn left after the old police station and head up Tung Tau Wan Road. The museum is open 10:00 - 17:00 hours Tuesday to Sunday and entry is free. The ground floor mostly charts the history of the HK penal system through photos and record books, whilst the upstairs... This is a very interesting museum which is small and probably needs about 1 hour. The introductory video is quite long but worthwhile if you can manage to stand for that long - no seats for some reason. There is a great deal of information about the previous prison, the current prison and prison life in general with an emphasis... More

Very quiet, tiny but you should go. The hi light is the exhibition of dead penalty.

This museum is nicely put together with static displays of old and new parts of the HK prison system. Surprisingly similar to correction museums I've seen in the US and other industrialized countries (I guess crooks are the same all over). The display on the (outdated) use of caning was unique and interesting. The display's have English as well as... More

It's nice that a free museum on this dour subject exists at all. But it's unlikely to take your breath away. The subject matter just isn't sufficiently interesting, though they do try their best.

This history of correctional services and prisons throughout Hong Kong, might not be everyone's cup of tea, but we found it very interesting. Well done to the volunteers who man the museum and share their knowledge with visitors. The exhibits are great and I was delighted that photography and video were permitted. Prison Officers are trained - military style, next... More

Was excited to visit the museum after reading the positive reviews. Nevertheless, I am kinda dissappointed though. There is not much to explore inside the museum, the more interesting parts of the museum are probably the mock prison cell, punishment equipment.. Well, gallery 6 & 7 relating to illegal Vietnamese on boat and weapon created using materials you'd never thought... More

this is one of the best places i have visited, no payment for entry and the kids enjoy as well as we did because it is about how the prisons and the old prison how it was in the past which attract them to know more about it
