Did the section 2 of maclehose trail from Sai Wan Tin to Pak Tam Au. This section is within the Sai Kung east country park. Private vehicles are allowed inside unless you apply for a permit, hence the best is to take a taxi which are allowed in the park. The first uphill and down takes you to Sai Wan... More

Though the hike triggered my old injury, the scenery was so great I pushed myself to walk on. Highly recommend to go. Only concern is that transportation getting out of these 2 trails can be a nightmare. There wasn't any signal for us and many of the other hikers at the end of trail 2 for us to call for... More

MacLehose trails are a great hiking place. We did a part of the trail and believe me its worth the efforts. We did trail 3 towards trail 2 and loved each section of the trail. Would love to try other part of while 100 km trail.

You really need to plan the timing when you do this section! As the bus from Sai Kong to Sai wan Tin is very limited with seats and time. But once you are there, it is a fantastic hike. The first section to Sai wan is very easy. But this is my favourite beach, clean and white. Then the trail... More

The MacLehose Trail Stage 2 is beautiful. The hot weather and humidity make it more of a challenge so carry water and buy more at the plentiful cafes along the way. The first part is the steepest then it gets easier. The views are fantastic. The boat ride back to near the university was an added bonus. I highly recommend... More

I did 2nd section connected with 3rd and a little bit of off road. It is not very easy to get there if you don't have a car, but you can find nice descriptions in the internet how to get there by public communication. If you are afraid of jungle, insects and weir noises coming from very dense forest you'd... More

Take the 96R bus (Subday and public holidays only) from Diamond Hill. Get off the bus at Pak Tam Au and cross the road. You will see public toilets and you can begin walking the stage 2 if the trail backwards from here. It is a beautiful and accessible hike to Ham Tin beach over one hill. There are a... More

We went for a two day trekking, made camp in Ham Tin Wan beach. Great night swimming under the full moon. It took us more or less 8 hours to complete stage 2 in two days. We had to deviate course due to a previous landslide. Very hot and very buggy. Always a pleasure. Beautiful. Perfect for trekking (obviously) and... More

We started off early at 7am from our hotel at Wan Chai-Renaissance Habour View. We took the MTR to Tsueng Wan station, exit A, turn left at the exit, up a flight of stairs to the road, bus stop is just on the left - bus 51. About 10stops up the winding road, arriving at the country park visitor center... More

Did the 8 miles of stage 2 as a day trip from Tsim Sha Tsui. Much easier to do than I expected. Had to stand on the 96R bus to the start at Pak Tam Au, but it was the May Day holiday weekend; at the end took a taxi back to Sai Kung (90 Hong Kong dollars) and a... More
