The Mac trail requires some traveling from central Hong Kong but is well worth the effort. This trail has it all, folks! Climbs, beaches, villages and views throughout. My personal favorite, and a good starting point for new hikers, is the first two segments. This...More

If you are tired from the shopping and eating, Sai Kung area is actually nice for recreation with its scenic dams and hills. MacLehose trail brings you into the forests and beaches in this area. Camping facilities also available and also local homestay.

It is a good family walk, we did it with a baby carrier with no real problem. There is a bit of an incline but nothing too serious.

The trail is not difficult to walk so it is suitable for whole family. However, the scenery isn't too attractive as some other trail. I would consider other trail first when I go hiking next time.

The MacLehose trail is subdivided into several sections resp. parts, all of which can be hiked on their own and separately. This year we hiked Part 7, the steep and relatively difficult hike up and down Needle Hill; once you are at the top of...More
