Something different. and ... A coincidence. We visited on Ancestor Day, hence lots of people commemorating their ancestors. This is one of the better Temples we have visited. It is very big with a beautiful Bonsai Collection. We took a ferry from Tung Chung to Tuen Mun. Then the 507 Tram to Tin King and switched to 617 (?) to Ching Chung. The Temple is directly opposite the tram stop. A lovely, tranquil place and very big. I witnessed people buying huge paper bags: full of paper clothing, money and food which they offered into a large fire altar - to help their ancestors on their way. A lovely visit.

A lovely place for a day trip in Tuen Mun in New Territories! We browsed through the Discover Hong Kong site ( http://www.discoverhongkong.com/ (recommended by Hong Kong Tourism Board)) To get to the place we took the light rail and got off at the Ching Chung station which was about 5 minutes walk see the official MTR Light Rail site ( http://www.mtr.com.hk/en/customer/services/more_light_rail.html )
Loved the atmosphere and the designs and I took many photos! I didn't have time for "Kau Cim", which involved using Chinese fortune sticks or trying out the vegetarian restaurant. I saw others visitors did. I learned that it was a charity organisation so I inserted a few Hong Kong dollars in the donation box. Not compulsory but I did see many visitors putting money in the donation boxes in the main temple ( some did 1-2HKD (blue/green notes ) other 100HKD (red notes)!
Would recommend this if you love culture and photography!
Tips: To avoid large crowd, don't visits during festivals and holidays!

The place is perfect for Hong Kong people who need to escape and have a break in order to release pressure. Just a simple walk around, feel the authentic atmosphere, all the stupid things happened in life sims to be disappear!

If you have few days in HK, it does not worth the trip there as it's far from the center. But if you live in HK it's an interesting temple to visit. There are a lot of Bonsai too and a nice small stone garden.

This is one of the best places to explore the religious scene of Hong Kong without encountering the tourist crowd. Ching Chung Koon, or the Temple of the Green Pine, is a traditional Taoist temple with a lovely (although somehow dilapidated) garden and lots of worshippers. Bus 960 connects the place with Central and Wanchai.

It is mostly for storing the ashes and for people commemorating their ancestors, not much for tourists to see.
