Top ways to experience Hong Kong Hennessy Road and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centres of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
How to get there

Stayed at the Grand Hyatt for a few days R&R with my two sons. I have stayed in many international hotels and the Hyatt presents very well towards the top of the scale. Our twin room (shared with one son) had a great harbour view with very good amenities. Can't say that I am thrilled with the integrated bathroom (a blind provides privacy) but perhaps that reflects my age. If for no other reason, stay here for the breakfast!! If there was any complaint it was that the air con in the room was TOO COLD but can be adjusted.

Named after former Governor John Pope Hennessy (1877-1882), Hennessy Road is a two way road connecting Causeway Bay (east) to Admiralty (west). The street is lined with small eateries and commercial retail shops. The HK Tramway 'Ding-Ding' tram runs along Hennessy Road and is a fun way to pass through this area of the city.

Hennessy Road is also a major path used during local protests, which start at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay, making way to the LegCo building at Tamar Park in Admiralty. These can cause disruptions for vehicle and tramway transportation so best to plan alternative transportation (MTR) at such times.

This is a busy place, and like what others have said its great to have a coffee break and people watch. I find it a bit strange that it has been even placed on here as some kind of attraction, unless I missed something.

In the heart of Victoria in WanChai we found this open sky bar on floor 32 with a marvelous view over Hong Kong and Happy Valley. The drink list was interesting, the price level acceptable, 100 HKD for a glas of Prosecco, and the service quick with a smile but the view was breathtaking.

I was usually traveling past Victoria Park, but it was good to know this area for coffee, food, and additional shopping. Very fun to observe and consider where you might stop off as you are riding the upper level of the "ding-ding." I really like Pacific Coffee here, and also convenient to spot a McDo when you need some quick food. Also SOGO has maybe th largest digital mural I have ever seen - wow. Fun shopping and walking. Honk Kong is really amazing, and this is just another one of the jewels that makes it so fun and absorbing to come here and play around.

This is the road that you can walk along from wanchai to causeway bay. Not much to see from the wanchai part, it gets better near busier causeway bay. Of note is the kam’s roast goose restaurant, nothing much else

Before arriving, I thought Lockhart Rd was the main drag of Wan Chai, but instead found it to be the main drag of Bathroom supplies.

Hennessy Rd is far better for what you expect of Hong Kong, Pubs, Shops, Money Change, Markets, double decker trams, and much more. Worth the explore

Rode the double decker tram from Sheung Wan to North Point. Much of the tracks are on Hennessy Road. Sitting up top you will get an impressive look at many different neighborhoods and lots of shopping, both stores and street shopping. SOGO Department Store is at Causeway Bay and this is an extremely crowded shopping area. If I get my video uploaded, you can see Hennessey Road from the tram as we pass they the island.
