Your kids will be tired but make them go here. it is well worth the visit. The exhibitions are very well laid out, it is spacious and the crowds are not crazy. We took two teenagers and they actually enjoyed it. Spencer a couple of hours.

The museum building is huge and well designed. It is advisable to start visiting its top floor then walk down the stairs to lower levels. Walking through various exhibition halls brings you back in history. The bronze statue depicting labourers in the past hauling boat upstream of the Yangtze River is a must see. After the visit, you can spend some good time outside in the park.

I visited this over 8 years ago and it was full of interesting artefacts and stone rubbings. It was old and damp and not so well maintained and I'm not sure that it's even still open these days.

This museum is larger than the one in Shanghai. If you want to visit one while in China, chose this one.
