We came here for a run on a Saturday evening in August and were amazed by the number of local people out and about dancing, doing aerobics, flag waving, skate boarding etc! A really fun place to see a different aspect of Beijing and the Olympic venues looked great lit up from the outside too!

Living down the street from Olympic Park and working inside Olympic Park has been an amazing experience but it took me over a year to go and check out the Birds Nest and Water Cube end of the park.

The Birds Nest Stadium is commonly used for concerts and other large events so if you want o go inside you'll need to make sure one of these events is not being packed down or set up. But I recommend just doing the stadium yourself. Buy your tickets near the gate 80rmb ($15aud) and head inside. Everything is signed in English and Chinese and it's not difficult to find your way around. You can climb to the roof and get some decent photos. It's beautiful to see such a large green parkland in the northern centre of the city.

I also recommend hanging around until night time to see the stadiums all lit up and to dance with the different groups in the square - everyone from teenagers skating around and learning hip hop routines to grandma's dancing and traditional fan dances. I think it comes alive at night time.

There is a shopping complex attached to the train station where you can grab a bite to eat and wander around between afternoon and sunset. If you can get up the towers for clear sunset it's worth the price.

It is worth noting that. preparation is in full swing (and has been for a while now) for the winter Olympics 2022. Beijing has maintained most of its park buildings as well as finishing the Olympic Tower. They are adding more for the winter games, a new ice rink has sprung up at the end of my street. They have put up their countdown clocks and are hosting performances and small festivals. There are souvenir shops full of 2022 merchandise as well.

We loved visiting Olympic Park! Had read reviews that it wasn’t no big deal but we thought that it was fabulous! We took the bus from Wudaokou area and arrived slightly before sunset and purchased tickets to go to the Bird’s Nest (100RMB.) It is awesome to see them getting ready for the 2022 Winter Olympics. We went to the very top of the Nest and got to see the skyline turn from day to night. It was very cold and just magical. They were making snow for the ski slopes and a winter village. You can pick up a few official 2022 Winter Olympic items if you would like and find a bite to eat. We did not get to explore the Olympic Forest but it’s a great escape in the heart of the city.

If you enjoy architecture this is a good place to visit. For me it was impressive at night time as you can experience the stadium and ice cube while it is illuminated. You do not have to spend to much time here as there are not much else to do but it is worth a short visit.

We visited the whole Olympic area in one day - Olympic Park, Tower, Bird's Nest and Water Cube. There are 3 MTR stations that drop off into the area - we exited at Olympic Sports Center. We chose the dual tickets - Overall View of the Bird's Nest and Water Cube. This allowed us to tour the Bird's Nest inside the VIP area and seating area, inside the actual stadium and go on top of the roof to walk around. It was fun and the views were amazing. We also toured the Water and Ice Cube (Aquatics Center) - they have an indoor waterpark, viewing of the olympic pool and one of the diving area was open and they had a curling tournament while we were there - you could just walk in and sit down.

This is worth a short visit. It is not a tier-one attraction. The Bird's Nest and aquatic park are architectural wonders. There are many little souvenir shops and sundry stores. It appears to be a popular spot to go on a stroll with one's family. Look into public transit as the place is very busy and the looks to be very little parking. There was not too much to do so check ahead for options otherwise there is no need to stay too long. It will be hot in the summer. Wear walking shoes.

It was built many years ago. But still attract me to visit it. Strongly recommended to pay visit at night! The view with the light on are nicer for photo-shoot.
