We entered through the West Gate. We were asked to show our passport on our way in. There was no entrance fee. The campus is nice as a whole, but the scenic lake and the nearby Boya Pagoda are the highlights. The lake is surrounded...More
The Peking University was so big that we even had trouble searching for restrooms. Beautiful ponds and gardens in the campus with flowers blooming all over during spring season. One of the must visit attraction in Beijing.
Every entrance of the university has security guards to check every visitor. So don't go there if you are not authorized to enter the university.

The campus is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. People live right on campus. Perhaps not all the buildings are open but most are opened till 9 or 10 PM. The resident buildings that are not hotels often are only open to residents after 10 or 11 PM. However, you walk around campus and even go t the lake anytime of day or night.
Global Village Hotel is right across the street from the academic side of the campus--office buildings, library, etc. It is technically affiliated with the university, but is open to all visitors. Decent place to stay.
